The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 35 (Maiden). Gorseybrigg old boys: 124-5, runrate=3.54
Uppal   8-2-12-2
Tzaneen*   36 (50 balls)
Parkinson   0 (1 balls)
Last Wicket: Hunter b. Uppal 16 (FOW: 124/5)

Not great. I rested Kerwin and the rest have failed to get past 20, so need Parkinson to stay in and Tzaneen to get a big score. The opposition aren't the toughest but they won the toss and electe to bowl first on my dusty pitch with partial cloudv and lots of humidity. They've managed to make the most of the conditions, it would seem.

If I am to harbour any hope of getting into the top 4 I need to win this week and beat them again the following week.  I've started ok.

End of Over 38 (2 runs). KBOTW: 120-1, runrate=3.16
Shaw 19-5-45-1
Harris* 48 (62 balls)
Bowler 33 (120 balls)

Last Wicket: Hadland b. Shaw 16 (FOW: 37/1)

Oh how I long for a bot or a player who doesn't log in in my FC league.

I made a bad decision by opting to bat first.  I'm away tomorrow and thurs so won't be able to set an accurate 2nd innings declaration target, had I fieldied first it would just have been a case of trying to bowl them out twice oops!!

My opponent has unorthodox bowling tactics.  Seems to think 25over spells are the way forward Smiley

This and next week I play the team currently 2nd, 5 points behind me in the league

Lost the toss and they batted 1st on my cracked pitch.

once again my bowlers did the work, bowling them out for 159 in 71 overs. My wk taking 7 catches. Only disappointment is I had them 99-9

In reply I'm 184-1 from 39 overs, with my opener making 104 no from 105 deliveries.

I'm playing a team twice as good as me, his 2nd worst player is better than my best player (not counting my trainee all rounder who isnt playing due to excessive nets). He has drawn 4 of his 5 games because he hasnt figured out the declaration thing and just continues to bat therefore my plan was to rest both my all rounders and first team bowlers to get PFL levels back to sublime.

Therefore my team consisted of 5 batsmen my wicket keeper and 5 squad bowlers, i hoped my batsmen could bat for long to maybe earn a bonus batting point and use up most of the day - thankfully i managed this just.

End of Over 86 (Maiden). Matts Monkeys: 211-10, runrate=2.45
Nott 12-1-42-1
Tortoishell* 105 (247 balls)

thanks to a long unbeaten century by my number 3. Plan now - let them bat for 2 days and pick up 4 points for the draw!!

however no one told my squad bowlers that......

0.1 W Mirfin to Akhlagullah
Big nick behind and Mills launches the ball into the sky. Great bowling!

wicket first ball followed by............

End of Over 24 (4 runs). The Dark Side: 93-4, runrate=3.88
Trail by 118 runs. (Matts Monkeys 211-10)
Bevan 4-1-16-1
Hatch* 0 (0 balls)
Habens 15 (23 balls)

Last Wicket: Prescott b. Clare 37 (FOW: 89/4)

3 more wickets just before the close of play - now i dont know what to think

My problems regarding setting orders for day 3 have been solved by the fact that it is highly unlikely that a third day will be needed.  I've made 403-4 and they currently are 37-6, which means I will be able to enforce the follow-on barring a miraculous recovery.

I had a good 17 overs by the look of it, reducing them to 16-2.

My opening century maker got out first ball this morning

however the team are carrying on upwards

End of Over 44 (5 runs). Staples015: 210-2, runrate=4.77
Lead by 51 runs. (LewisStars 159-10)
Lawrence   12-1-47-1
Turley*   3 (5 balls)
Mpho   56 (72 balls)
Last Wicket: Ashieq b. Lawrence 104 (FOW: 189/2)

Have set a pretty high declaration to ensure I don't lose. At the current run rate I'll be bowling at them with between 30/40 overs tonight.  With my destructive and in form wicketkeeper to come in at 6, that could be a lot quicker!

And my team are showing the opposition LOTS of respect

End of Over 51 (21 runs). Staples015: 276-2, runrate=5.41
Lead by 117 runs. (LewisStars 159-10)
Wilson   13-0-113-0
Mpho*   80 (88 balls)
Turley   45 (31 balls)
Last Wicket: Ashieq b. Lawrence 104 (FOW: 189/2)
50.6    4   Wilson to Turley
        That's four all the way
50.5    6   Wilson to Turley
That's out... of the ground. Beautiful shot from Turley.
50.4    1   Wilson to Mpho
Mpho has drilled that straight to mid off and a misfield allows the batsmen to take a quick single.
50.3    2   Wilson to Mpho
Brilliant running, Mpho set off like a greyhound out of the traps, he caught the fielders napping and stole a sneaky second run.
50.2    4   Wilson to Mpho
Oh, the audacity! He gets outside the line of off stump, leaving the castle exposed, and backs himself to get it past short fine leg! Totally premeditated, but certainly very effective when it comes off.
50.1    4   Wilson to Mpho
Wilson bowls a peach of a delivery. Got Mpho bamboozled. EDGED! Just short of 1st slip runs away for 4 runs.

21 from the over, 10 from the over before, 8 from the one after. I think they want another day off!
