Whats happened to the URLs in signatures? Why don't they link anymore?

If you want to stop people putting links in signatures thats all well and good, but the fact that the little world icon below our names also allows us to specify a link kind of defeats the point, no?

We made a change to stop spam that would not support any outgoing links. However people can still copy and paste and go the the url if they wish to. Search engines register all outgoing links as well and that can be a minus for us when outgoing links can not be controlled.

mikky,

I can honestly say "I don't know", but I will find out for you.

But I CAN tell you that in discussions with our tech people some weeks back, we were discussing SEO procedures. During these discussions, a view was expressed by one of our Web team that live "links" were very bad for our SEO aspirations, & that in due course, we MAY have to stop them. I said "how can we stop peeps putting up live links" (I assume links & URL's are the same thing in this context). I was told that we (our tech peeps) have a way of preventing links being put up, apparently we could use some piece of software to stop it.

Now, I've explained all that in detail, but I must add that I heard no more about it, & I had no idea we had (if indeed we have) implemented it.

I WILL find out though mikky, & get back to you with a full explanation. Meanwhile, please bear with us.

Ahh, there you go - Tony has answered the question.

But I apologise that we did not inform you of this in advance, as we clearly should have done.

Never knew you had a blog Flushy. You make jokes about me on it? Never knew you could write, never mind crack jokes.

Just for Flushy, here's an extract from something I penned, which appeared elsewhere on the web recently, describing the London Poker Masters......

"...... Impressive field, too, with the likes of Garry Bush, Wilie Tann, Joe Grech, Luke Smith & Dave Clayton, sitting alongside relative unknowns such as myself, James Dempsey, and a very strong local contingent......"

Now, if you are a really good little Flushy, I'll give you the address where you can find my September Pro-Tips. To you, Flushy, they are free.

Just for the record, seeing as you have mentioned the Masters, I put an each way be on both of you in the hope you would end up head to head. Thanks tikay, yours came in, but I was let down elsewhere.
