Wales should still have to qualify though, by playing an inthebelly team perhaps?

Capello says interested in England job
Thu 22 Nov, 09:23 AM

MILAN (Reuters) - Former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has said he would be interested in the England manager's job.

England failed to qualify for Euro 2008 after losing 3-2 at home to Croatia on Wednesday and coach Steve McClaren is expected to be sacked.

The 61-year-old Capello, who achieved huge success with AC Milan in the 1990s and also won Italian titles with Juventus and AS Roma, has often spoken of his desire to coach England.

"It would be a beautiful challenge. I am the right age. It is a battle," Capello told Thursday's Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian was dismissed as Real coach at the end of last season despite winning the Spanish title and is now working as a commentator for Italy's Rai television.

He is well aware of England's problems, however.

"There are too many foreign players and the players are used to another way of playing," he said of England while commentating on Italy's 3-1 win over Faroe Islands on Wednesday.

Former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho is the bookmakers' favourite if McClaren is sacked.

He is an opportunistic idiot who only made that "foreigners" comment so he would be considered for the job in the first place as he knows that that's going to flare up again. And the "players can't play that way"..players can play any way you tell them to as long as the system makes sense. Is anyone actually stupid enough to think players don't grasp the difference between 442/451 and 352? If they don't they REALLY should choose a different job as even the kids teams understand it.

"McClaren, 46, who had a four-year deal, is expected to be paid more than £2m in compensation"

how do they manage to get compensation, if you were sacked in a normal job you wouldn't get a pay off?

I know..it's a disgrace.

I have never been a socialist..in fact I am a liberal if nthing else..people can earna fortune as far as I care. I have no problem with bill Gates being worth 500gazillion dollars..or football players making 130k a week..goodluck to them. the one thing that does bother me rotten is when someone who has screwed over thousands of people (like the citibank director who will cost 10k people their jobs) or someone who gets the sack for simply not achieving being rewarded with a nice pay-out just to get rid of them.
Success can be rewarded with as much as it is considered to be worth I think..but incompetence and failure should be punished and not rewarded.

all the decent managers  who have proved themselves would not touch the england job, that question has to be answered ,we all know why, its disgusting the way the press and media hound and ridicule our national team managers, besides the money why should anyone want the job ,

sums up the corporate tossers precisely, you would have thought that they would have had the brains to insert a clause in his contract which reads "failure to qualify for Euro 2008 will result in instant dismissal, pack your bags, piss off and you aint getting another fkin penny"

ps. I am available for contract negotiations, please PM me for prices of my services Wink
