Manila - A powerful typhoon skirted populated provinces in the eastern Philippines on Saturday, where thousands of residents had been forced to evacuate their homes to avoid the repeat of a disaster that killed more than 1 000 people last year.
Typhoon Mitag veered away from its course before dawn on Saturday, sparing the provinces of Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Sorsogon and Albay from its wrath, the weather bureau said.

Weather bureau chief Prisco Nilo said Mitag, with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometres per hour and gusts of up to 210 kilometres per hour, was expected to hit land on Sunday in the northern provinces of Aurora and Isabela. (this is east coast, i'm on the west coast so fingers crossed).

Hope it misses you, and the rest of the country.

Thank you:

Today has been a day of torrential rain, the forecast is the Typhoon is due to hit us on Monday morning.

Our area is on Public Signal No 1 (red alert), which means all schools and municipal buildings are closed until further notice. No evacuations in our are as yet, over 100,000 evacuated on the east side of the Island.

To be honest not alot you can do, just have to sit it out and hope it changes course.
