is it a 1 hour clock snoops??

Yes, m8, 1 hour clock.

I just popped down and learned that we have 90 players today (excluding the odd late straggler).

The players were just being called to their seats as I left.

90 runners seems a bit disappointing maybe another sign of the amount of festivals we have and apart from those sponsored the expenses of playing all festivals is just too much.

Great to see the new addition to the updates with the big yellow clock...........wouldn't it be really cool if Bongo could reposition it underneath the last post or right at the bottom of each page or even have 2 copies 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom.

PS good to see Snoops is finally back updating we just might manage a bit of norkage somewhere along the line.

Afternoon peeps, me and Floppy have also arrived at last after a funny taxi driver taking us to the The Victoria hotel somewhere NOT near the casino.  Also fresh from DTD last night and limited sleep so at least all updaters are singing form the same sleep sheet.

Looking forward to a 3 way update from the Vic, gotta say.  Those multiple stairs and corridors are not good to a gym dodger lol.

The players are nearly starting so I'll head off with camera round neck and see what I can come up with.

We have lift-off...Play is underway.

(Note: If the clock isn't working on your computer, i.e not properly counting down, try pressing crtl and f5 at the same time to refresh)

I take exception, no-one comes close to me for norkage.

Look, here are buns.

Word on the street is that play has now started. Meanwhile, have a gander at this thrilling photo of the cardroom. You can't quite grasp the level of excitement just from that one snap, but it's like the World Cup Final down there!

I don't know if his other half is a voyeur today, but if she is, here's Mr John Murphy for you, in fine fettle as always and confident of running well. He's in good form if the satellite is anything to go buy, fending off over 40 players to lap up the one and only seat. Good luck to that man.

Another young chappie that I caught hanging around the door like a veteran bouncer (or perhaps he was spying on a sooted and booted Dena), is Dan Carter, aka Sideshow Bob. Unlike the aforementioned Murphy, 14 year old Dan appears to be in slightly more frustrated mood after a 4 hour encounter in the heads-up tourney with Chris Sokrati. The longest of the 1st round confrontations, Soxy was all-in blind a number of times due to the vast blinds and kept doubling up! "I had an eight to one advantage and still lost!" bemoans the curly locked Carter.

Robin Keston bets 5k into what seems to be an 1,800 pot on a board. Perhaps trying to get a push from a smaller set?

Vicky Coren bets 600 on the river of an A-2-4-T-J board, her opponent mucks an Ace, she shows 5-3.

Manuel Palanca looks to be the early chipleader after Dave Gregory played his aces very strong on a three clubs Two Clubs board, looking to include a 6k river bet. Manuel had flopped a set of threes and called him all the way.

Dan Carter is extolling to me the virtues of Guitar Hero 3 for the XBox/PS2 whilst limping UTG. He says the only disadvantage from playing it so often is the crippling arthritis you get from the mini guitar you get with the game... Anyway, the button raises and Dan is the only caller.

Both check the flop, Dan bets 250 on the turn and then 500 on the river, both times he's called, but his is good.

Great start for Dave Colclough in that he played 3 won 3, I arrive at the table for Dan Carter to tell me that Dave is bashing up the table already.

Blonde (bookiebasher) Jim Moult has a nice table betting into Ben Grundy then Stuart Fox.  Jim has already won a couple of K of Foxy betting every street then hitting a flush on the river on him.

Neil Channing & Vicky Coren can't stay away from each other.  Vicky looked up to ask me if I was playing this event and when my reply was "too rich for me"  John Duthie chirped up saying "I'll buy you in Maria!"  My heart skipped a tiny beat until the inevitable follow up from Duthie of "Oh sorry, no its too late!"

This happy loony so early in the day is Robbo Karoly, he beckoned me over from 2 tables away to pose for your delection: No need for a caption comp here hehe:

Whether you have 15k or 10k, it doesn't take long for those chips to go hurtling into the pot, and young Ketu Nathwani was all-in within the first 20 minutes. His opponent was a voluptuous and exotic Maria Maceiras, one of several Spanish players making the trip over to sunny Edgware Road today.

The Flop read and Maria's 1.3k bet had been raised to 3.1k by Ketu. With a pained expression, and a dwell that would turn Carlo Citrone green with envy, Maria made the call before checking in the dark, which, in my experience, is often a sign that they want their opponent to check behind them.

However, with the Turn bringing a , a check was the last thing on the mind of Ketu, who bet out 2.7k. Grimacing in equal measure, Maria once again called.

The River was a two spades, which triggered a bizarre 1.8k bet from Maria. With his eyes darting around like nervous jelly, Ketu paused before announcing all-in in that funny quick push Hellmuth motion.

After a long long loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong dwell, Maria folded face-up.

John Murphy is rocking and rolling early doors, he just had a straight ( on an board) paid off by Ben Akiva, pictured here seated to the right of Sami Yusuf.
