Mother of pearl, I was just sitting at my laptop, quietly typing away my thoughts for the day, when out bashed this awful racket from two or three walls away. I see what you mean about the live music, I can imagine it might be off-putting if sat at the table. Live music and poker have never mixed from my experience, they bashed out some dance music once at the Gala Notts, which didn't go down well, although the average age on that night was about 60, and not even tikay was there!
Regular updates on the band please. Style, volume, repertoire etc
I'm no expert on style and repertoire, but they're certainly number 11 on the Spinal Tap amplifier.
Oh my god, I saw a man wheeling in an amp about the size of a central London flat. God help us all.

Rumit is OUT. Here is the story as related to me from the next table where he is now munching on some kind of tuna fish salad.
Finding himself with Aces, as you do, he has delighted when Tracey Troy raised to 300. A bunch of people called around and so he made it 900. As you do. With your Aces. Tracey folds but there are other callers.
The flop comes Q-2-2 and it checks around to
Jeff
Rogers
who bets 1k. Rumit makes it 3k and Jeff promptly goes all in. After some umm-ing and ahh-ing, Rumit calls. Jeff triumphantly turns over 7-2. "Oh well," sighs Rumit, "it makes a change from Kings beating my Aces." Must have used up all his luck for the day in not dying on the M1.

As usual, Rumit took his beat well. Obviously it was nigh on impossible to get away from with a Flop like that - "I thought no one woudl have paid 1,300 to see the Flop with a Two." - but oh how wrong he was. "At least you have a story," I joked. "But why couldn't it have been Kings or Queens or something? Why 7-2." he replied. "It was suited," I added.

The players have just returned from a mini break (think those bite-size Kit-Kats) and are now braced and raring to go.

Here is Mr Allan Shields, enjoying a bit of a craic with Jeff Buffenbarger most of the time, although not really in this photo where it looks a bit like Jeff has just announced that he's planted a bomb under the table. He hasn't. Anyway, Allan's on just under his 10k starting stack. Jeff's on around 12k.

Craig Owen has recovered admirably from his early blow - he just doubled up with a nut flush to 8 or 10k. Here he is with Mr Yilfer Shevket, who was extremely keen to ascertain whether I had seen him on TV. He's been on eight times! He told me his name was James Bond too. I'm very confused.

I got a text from
Rob
Garfield
telling me Monkey was 1st out. It was only later i realised that daniel was the man that done it. Unlucky Mark.....
Justice for a week of dreadful calls and play IMO.
And wish Rob good luck too. Hope he gets 2nd.
Vince
Looks like Rob's a pretty big stack at the moment, on maybe 25k. Doesn't he look delighted about it too?

Contrary to popular belief, these two are NOT twins.

I'm rather surprised actually, over the last hour, the place has become busier and busier and it actually feels like an atmosphere is building up. It's just a shame we only had 49 runners for the poker.

the place is more of a night club at weekends catering for the clubbers but usually provides some nice fodder for the cash games later on.
also there is a couple of big fights tonight on the tv so expect it to get busier!
