    Team                    P  W  L  D  T  Bat Bowl Points
1. Preston Occasionals 11 4  2  5   0  44   29    149
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Shedite_Fighters    11  4  2  5   0  43  29    148
3. Canvey CCC           11  5  3  3   0  42  23    147
4. The Space Cadets  11  5  3  3   0  33  31    146
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. The Dark Side        11  3  2  6   0  41  33    140
6. Matts Monkeys       11  4  5  2   0  30  29    123

This is how my league table looked going into todays game. Last week i played the then league leaders Canvey CCC and won by an innings and 58 runs after their much better squad had a much worse PFL.

More of the same this week as i take on the new league leaders Preston Occasionals, again they have a far superior squad to mine but thanks to me having a decent size squad and being able to rotate my PFL are much better - result......

End of Over 39 (Maiden). Preston Occasionals: 77-4, runrate=1.97
Berry 8-2-10-0
Travis* 0 (2 balls)
Van biljon 6 (25 balls)

Last Wicket: Le roux b. Hakeem 52 (FOW: 77/4)

Next week i play a team far worse than mine so i'm virtually guaranteed a win even if i play a weakened squad and with most of the teams above me struggling there may be a chance that the league is still up for grabs come the last week of the season. However as my squad is only good enough for a weak Division 5 there is no way i can get promoted to Division 4 so i may have to throw my last game of the season to be sure!! Cheesy

I got off to a hellish start in a must win game.  Found myself at 110/5 (only batting to 7) and staring defeat in the face.  I have however staged a revcovery and I'm currently 247/5.  I really could do with max points in this match but its going to be easier said than done.

Just got his best player out and picked up a bowling bonus point.

Hopefully I can take a few more wickets now (especially as the bat still in has faced 250+ balls), put some pressure on him to declare and maybe get another bonus point.

I've taken another couple of wickets, his opener is still there though - surely he can't last too much longer, must be knackered after 280balls!

Disappointed not to take a wicket, however I will let my spinners loose on them tomorrow and hopefully pick up an early wicket or 3.  My opponents top 5 are good but theres not much to come after that, so if I can get the aforementioned early wickets, hopefully the rest will soon follow.

And that's it for the days play. Join us again tomorrow for more ball by ball coverage.

 End of Over 17 (1 runs). phizz: 67-0, runrate=3.94
Trail by 336 runs. (KBOTW 403-5 dec)
Oneill 9-0-41-0
Neill* 35 (66 balls)
Seaby 32 (36 balls)

Close, but not quite there

Bowled them out for 35, including a 16 run last wicket partnership.

Then took their attack apart. 386-3 in 63 overs. My opener Ashieq, fresh from scoring a double century in a friendly vs a div V side on Sunday, hit another century, with only my no 3 failing to score a half century ( 49 from 48 deliveries tho)

with 16 overs left the race was on, however the opposition being in ultra defensive mode, they are 20-4 at the end of play.

League: VI.396

 Team                 P   Points
1. Bidds CC         11   227
2. Athletico Foxy 11   183
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. York Swingers 11   158
4. ste89             11   144

Having bashed all the bots since I joined the league mid season, I now find myself in a healthy position but facing a run in versus all the other three teams in the top four who do all actually exist!

As promotion is pretty much guaranteed on the one day front I have deliberated long and hard whether to throw away one, or both, promotion opportunities as, quite frankly, my squad is weak and will clearly struggle in div 5 next season.

But when it came to telling them that they would have to throw some games I just couldn't look my boys in the eye and so it's all guns blazing for rest of the season and to hell with the consequences!!

Playing 3rd today and am playing to win because that would make 2nd place pretty much guaranteed but am also ensuring that I don't risk losing.

Good start, batted first and with all batsmen scoring solidy reached 450-5 and then nipped a couple out early to leave them 44-2

n1 Keithy

The staples team seem to have followed their manager's example, staying up to silly o'clock after winning a $5 rebuy for just under $1.7k.

The opposition are currently 84-7 which is more than double their first innings score.
