Can I moan about not being allowed to moan?

Haha, Red Dog, we live in a world of free speech and democracy, everyone can moan as much as they want about dtd, but only the people who do not moan are welcome in the club - seems very fair to me, there are plenty places to play poker in the Midlands for those not happy with dtd.

On a serious note, I have made it totally clear that constructive cristism is welcomed but the right way to do this is directly to the people that can actually make a difference (like TK says in the Luton G thread), so email strumper@dtdpoker.com with any problems you have with dtd. Currently every week we all sit down and go through these issues and decide appropriate action.

..and the 4 days opening is a godsend, we have 3 days to fix all the things that have broke (coffee machine, tourney clock etc etc). dtd is not a big casino organisation that knows exactly what they are doing, myself and Nick have other jobs outside of dtd, plus, it nice to keep the club up close and personal. Shutting for 1 night so the staff can join my xmas do is an example of why dtd is not a commerical organisation.

Happy Xmas Red Dog and Bazza

This thread is a prime example of people complaining just for the sake of complaining. Rob has invested a lot of time, money and effort into providing the poker community with a great place to play, yet is asking very little back in terms of actual financial gain. With this in mind, I think we can forgive him and his team for having the odd night off to celebrate Christmas, however odd the timing may seem.

However, I do agree with what Jon says. dtd opening opening seems to have resulted in many folk taking digs at the other venues and using dtd to do so. This, in my opinion, is unfair, as there are many casinos across the country where the staff work effortlessly hard in their respective cardrooms.

Snoops mate, l am not being awkward here mate but is this a post for the sake of posting. That is NOT the case, many people who have made statements about LUTON have yet to visit D.T.D and frankly l have been easy on them. The place has turned into an incompetent dump, wether that is the the result of the GUKPT , the staff or what l don't know. I put up a thread asking for opinions and the results of that have been evident that it has gone to the dogs. As Kim Costa said to me the other night "the casinos have sh1t on Poker Players for years"!

No, it's not a post for the sake of posting, I just feel that it's unfair to compare cardrooms to one that has only been open for a fortnight, isn't open every day, is solely focused on poker and, as Rob confesses, works on a loss. I have been to dtd, and it is a cracking joint, Rob should be immensely proud, but I just think it's unjust to compare it to other casinos across the nation for the aforementioned reasons.

To quote Jonathan Raab...

I can't help thinking that if it a Grosvenor, Gala or Stanley casino that was somehow only operating 4 nights a week decided to shut up shop on one of those 4 days for a party, people would have been saying things along the lines of "utter incompetence, this would NEVER happen at dtd"

... and I can't help but think that's probably true.

Snoops l am not comparing Luton with DTD in the opinions thread, l am comparing LUTON, with LUTON earlier this year. Even Richard Prew done a report for some site and he opened the report with a statement of how strong the support was for these Luton Festivals with 200+ attending. Even earler this year in the old Luton can people remember when they put the screens across so that the restaurant could stay open therefore capping the comp at 120. Now they have loads of tables and unfortunately LOADS of excuses.

Michael, that report was written pre-GUKPT when Grosvenor, Blue Sq and the players all supported the traditional festivals as the top of the UK poker tree

Now for varying reasons that support is lacking, but its not just Luton its across the estate

Out of interest do you reckon DTD operating at a loss will be a permanent thing? I mean last week cash games were going all the way till 6 and surely the online state is improving as more club players realize the benefits of playing on DTD online?

As Rob has said, dtd  isn't a money making venture and  so the break even point is the obvious goal. However there is no doubt that the overheads and running cost are very challenging to cover....and because he says its a big no to other forms of gambling coming to the club, we must support dtd both online and live as much as possible.

Hopefully make it own tonight instead of tomorrow night.

To Rob and your team who undoubtably truly deserve this night out.
