No doubt there will be people who turn up to a shut dtd maybe even who have travelled a long way

Enjoy the party.
Is this a joke? You only open four days a week ?

Shutting for one day after all the trials and tribulations over the past 2 years is not going to do any halm in the grand scheme of the world, there was a chance that we would never open the doors a few months ago.

Our newletter mailshot to all dtd members (online and offline), our web site diary schedule, plasma displays in the club and nightly annoucements in the club by Simon Trumper all stated clearly that we will be closed on the 14th, we have gone to very effort possible that people do not turn up expecting the club to be open.

Merry Xmas and Goodwell to all men (except the moaners/groaners/whingers and whiners who think I (or life) always owes them something)

Rob

That would be a shame Rich and we're doing our best to prevent that from happening. If you've got some helpful suggestions I'd be more then happy to hear them.

Some sort of comp. voucher for next time would be nice.......but dont mention it on here...the queue will be round the block  Grin

yeah..maybe even a STT for those of us unfortunate enough not to play on the 14th...9 players..top 5 get a WSOP ME package and 50k spending money! Smiley

what do spaces 6-9 get

Have a good party guys, I think you certainly deserve it Smiley

c'mon everyone these people need a blow out -- it's been a slog and as such all people involved need to chill out and have a good time.. as for the people posting that this presents a problem  -- get real its not the end of the world

enjoy your night out -- relax and get slaughtered and have the best hangover in the world

For once I agree with Ironside, this was mentioned on the schedule found on DTD's site and anyone planning a journey, even if it is only a couple of hours, will surely have checked this before hand ?

Sincerely hope Rob, Nick, Simon, Darren, the DTD crew and the SF group have one hell of a christmas bash !

God bless everyone.

At the end of the day, l remember in a post that Rob wrote very early on that he was opening the club for himself and friends and didn't care what people thought. We are privaledged to be allowed to use the place and l think enough funds have been shelled out to justify a night off and for him to do what he wishes.

Have a cracker!

I can't help thinking that if it a Grosvenor, Gala or Stanley casino that was somehow only operating 4 nights a week decided to shut up shop on one of those 4 days for a party, people would have been saying things along the lines of "utter incompetence, this would NEVER happen at DTD"...  Wink

Seriously, enjoy the party. Merry Christmas to one and all.

You are probably right Jonathan, the casinos do seem to get a lot of stick when they do anything remotely controversial, I have read the Luton G thread this week and that seems a bit harsh. I am also finding that some poker players are even harder to keep happy that I thought.

However, I am on the "anyone moans too much - you won't be welcome in my club system" as it is a privatley owned club. I am viewing people that moan about the dtd club the same as someone who moans about my house and expects to come in, as I have always said, I'm just happy to that we have a legal club, the numbers of people that we get in the club are much less important that the enjoyment that we all get out of it. That's the difference between a commerial venture (like my recruitment business) and a lifestyle business such as dtd or my football club.

In my recruitment business, I put up with all sorts of hassle for my customers, but I make a handsome profit from them, dtd and my football club are -ve EV businesses (lol) so I am not gonna be so willing to be hassled in these, going to the club needs to be "quality time for me", not added pressure.

Conseqently, a lot of poker players who know me and my team won't give DTD as much stick as the casinos, but I'm sure there will be a minority of players who will still have a dig, cause they are just those types of personalities.

Happy Xmas Jon

Cheers Rob
