Poor little soldier , such a fighter though.

What a fantastic family he has supporting him.

Well latest is they have put him nil by mouth still except clear fluids if he can tolerate that.

They have also put another cannula in and rehydrating him via IV's but a lot of dark green bile has been aspirated,  if it turns light then he will recommence the small meals in hope to gain weight but if it remains dark then it is an indication of a problem post surgery and they will return him to theatre and also try to put either a temporary line in or it has been mentioned that there is a specialist surgeon that may attempt to put a full one in should it be necessary to have TPN. They said at the moment the risks of doing this out weigh the need to do it should this just be a setback and not another problem, however he has also had an xray which shows the lower part of his bowel is packed with stools but there is air above it which is a good sign when there is air there too.

So fingers crossed aye.

Glad to see that he's on the mend again.

Got to love the little man's spirit.

Hi Tom,

What a confusing roller coaster of a weekend. Different opinions,  different methods from those on duty. Yesterday they had rehydrated him and he started to eat a little more. They told us they thought his bowel had just shut down temporarily and is now working again.

Today his long term surgeon Ian Sugarman returned to work (  did I tell you that Mr Sugarman said that it was 5 years to the day or date , which ever,  that he operated last time to when he went in this time). His theory is totally the opposite.

He said Reece can not continue to lose weight like this and the only reason he looks better is down to the rehydration and nothing to do with food, words to that effect.

He said that he now feels the op he performed has not worked by way of stopping his bowel from occasionally blocking. He told Stacey this morning that he  is thinking Reece needs another Op but he said it is a Major Major operation that he was very reluctant to perform on him but is feeling we have little choice.

Before this can take place he needs to be built up so as it stands now he thinks is best if Reece comes home today for about a 3 day rest as he is now very upset because they need to get this line into him and start TPN to build him up for approx 6 weeks then operate so he said he will be in hospital for a very long time.

They are discussing it all this morning so nothing is set in stone yet and from past experiences things can change over night,  but we are all very shocked and anxious. He wants to come and stay here so I am just awaiting his arrival, that's if things don't change yet again.

Maureen. x

Got him home but he has to be back by 8 am, such a difference in the way he looks from last night, looks very thin and poorly again. Very lethargic.

Tomorrow he gets a scan done on all his veins, a specialist vein surgeon will be then looking at the results to determine which veins can be accessed to put in the central line, this surgeon is apparently one of the best in this field from Greeat Ormond Street he then hopes to perform this either Thursday or Friday. His blood results show further reductions in his vitamin levels so he really has to get back on TPN asap. As we know TPN damages the livers as before,  but at the present time this has to happen. It will build him up and his vit levels.

Had the test done, they have found a vein on the right side that they will attempt to use but the left side is completely blocked. He will have the line in Friday morning.

I can barely imagine what a worry all this is.

He's confounded us all before though, & I'm sure he'll do so again.
