we are on the FT but only 3 are going to get paid (unless we make a deal 4 way)

350k in play i have about 49k blinde 800/1600

tables been quite passive with alot of mini raises preflop and checking and calling nothing real aggressive

and any aggression has been respected

shortish stacks both 10kone on my right the other the other end of the table

one  other end of table is looking to steal orphaned pots but not in a calling mood

guy on my right is looking to get a double up somehow and just called an all in raise from bb with A6o and split against A6s

everyone else seemingly happy to just play premium hands and limp into see cheap flops

2UTG the guy on my right decides to limp in
i look down and see A9o

3UTG on a near if not full table isnt great but against his range of limping handsi am in great shape

if i was to get him all in and lose i am still over chip average

but i am way out of postion with so many still to act

i could pass and let the 10k goto another stack in a better postion

or take a wild stab

i made it 5k knowing if a deep stack was to come in or reraise i can let go

but the idea was to get the short stack all in

now i got my wish he rereaised and i called he showed his A5s and doubled up thru me

i got a few inquiring statements and questions from a couple of the more experianced players who claim to have read the wrong books

was my thinking badly flawed or was it a reasonable move to make now and again

i think it was better than his limp call with A6 mind you with the A6 he got limpers so added value

I think I agree, to me you aren't strong enough to try to isolate with A9 but the thought process is ok to me

Limp tax is fine especially on this kind of table, can't criticize the move when he donkaments it with A5, sometimes you'll run in to a big hand but you'll be surprised what people behind will fold to you. Pass pre is fine so is this move every so often.
