9 players left final table in a 50 odd entrant tourny. Average stack 9000. Blinds 400-800. 3 pay.

Your stack: 14,600

You are sitting on the button with

First to act makes it 2,100 to go. (Has approx 9,000 behind)

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold

QUESTION 1: Fold, Call, Raise?

You immediatly call.

Small blind folds, big blind calls (Has approx 6,000 behind).

Flop comes down

Big blind checks, initial raiser pushes all in.

QUESTION 2: Do you immediatly call, or dwell a bit so you can get the big blind in aswell?

You decide to dwell a bit, ask how much it is etc, and then eventually put your chips in the middle.

Big blind folds..

Inital raise turns over

Turn nothing, river nothing.

You win with 3 of a kind, Kings. Massive pot.

.......................

Now i was the guy on the button with the KQ.. Do you think this is bad play?

The player was extremly annoyed that i called him pre flop with a 'poor' hand, and that at that stage of the tourny he would have 'at least AQ'.

Now in my eyes, the tourny was pretty poor standard. For example, the very guy who had the AQ in that hand made awful play against me early on. He was on the cut off and raised 3 times big blind. I was on the button and had AK. Re raised it up another 2 times what he just bet. He called. and we checked down to the river (was a shit board for AK, i was really pleased not to have lost any of my chips !), then he turns over A6o?? i gratefully took my winnings lol.

I see KQ as a good hand in that situation. Was there anything wrong in my play?

You have position but a hand in usually disappointing shape vs UTG raiser and stacks aren't deep enough to play down the streets

It would be different if you had no action before you, as then you have a raising hand in late position

irrespective of the result here, I would usually fold pre-flop unless the utg raiser was felt to be particularly exploitable

As to your second question...dwell feigning a tricky decision to try and get the bb in

Calling is easily the worst option.
It's push or fold and I'd likely fold

Normally its a fold from me unless UTG is pushing ATC and is very short. Having said that, if he is in the habit of overplaying no pair no draw hands and overbet shoving on the flop in a multiway pot then with position i call. Also, dont dwell too long. Iv seen players make gr8 reads in these cases and fold super strong hands in the face of such acts. Also, and for Tighty's sanity.......

Your use of moron is confusing.

numpty its a fold preflop because your in bad shape v most of the utg's holdings.

just cos you hit the miracle flop doesn't mean the play is right.

personally i consider kq a raising hand not a calling hand.

Question 1 - Fold for me. KQ is rarely good against an early position rasier and is often dominated by AQ or AK in this spot

Question 2 - Once you flop trips then this pretty much plays itself
