Sorted our Malborough Light Stash out only to find I still have 37 Sleeves of 200's
No Hope for me at all
Good Luck to the rest

Link to Allen Carr book, I read a year and a half ago and gave up a 60 a day habit overnight.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/0141026898/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1199413361&sr=1-2
Some Benefits
20 min. Blood pressure and pulse return to normal
8 hrs Nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in blood reduce by half. Oxygen levels return to normal.
24 hrs Carbon monoxide will be eliminated from the body. Lungs start to clear out mucous and other smoking debris.
48 hrs There is no nicotine left in the body. Ability to taste and smell is greatly improved.
72 hrs Breathing becomes easier. Bronchial tubes begin to relax and energy levels increase.
2-12 weeks Circulation improves
3 - 9 months Coughs, wheezing and breathing problems improve as lung functions are increased by up to 10%
5 yrs. Risk of heart attack falls to about half that of a smoker
10 yrs. Risk of lung cancer falls to about half that of a smoker. Risk of heart attack falls to the same as someone who has never smoked.
More Benefits
Confidence Quitting smoking is a challenge. Once you have quit, you will know you can succeed at difficult taks and take more control of your life. Quitting helps you believe in yourself.
Fitness Smoking makes it harder to exercise and reduces the benefits to your body. Smokers have more coughs and colds than non-smokers and take longer to feel well again.
Money In a way, giving up smoking is like getting a pay rise, as much as £1500 a year if you smoke 20 cigarettes a day.
Appearance Skin starved of oxygen by smoking becomes dry and grey.
Wrinkles around the eyes and mouth develop much earlier and the tar stains your teeth and fingers.
Fertility Men who smoke may suffer impotence due to damage
to the blood vessels in the penis. Sperm quality and density can also be affected by smoking. Smokers may produce less sperm and their sperm may have more abnormalities.
Women who smoke take longer to conceive and are
more likely to have a miscarriage.
Childbirth Babies born to mothers who smoked in pregnancy are more likely to be premature, stillborn or die shortly after birth. A baby exposed to tobacco smoke has a higher risk of dying from cot death.
Children Children whose parents smoke are more likely to get pneumonia and bronchitis in their first year of life, to suffer from more frequent and more severe asthma attacks and to become regular smokers themselves.
some negatives;
Most ex-smokers become complete and utter twats about it.
Most non-smokers feel safe to point out the bleeding obvious everytime quitting smoking is mentioned. "Smoking is bad for you"..NO, REALLY???
I hate non-smokers and ex-smokers like that and am almost disgusted that I am now in the same group as them.

Yep. Agreed also.
However, I think the main reason I've been irritated and annoyed so much by evangelistic non-smokers before, is that every time I've felt they have a point and that smoking is stupid. Maybe they don't need to be quite so righteous about it though. I'm certainly never going to criticise or make snide comments about any smoking friends if I manage to give up.
Anyway, down to the single last cigarrette in my pack of 20 now lol, then off to the chemist to buy some nicorette or whatever it is they recommend.
Here goes (finger's crossed).

lmao...sorry if I pissed you off mate..I just really gets my goat when non-smokers or ex-smokers point out the bleeding obvious. It's like you walking upto a heroine addict and tell them "You know that's not good for you, right?" It's patronising at best and down right insulting at worst.

Just back from the chemist.. They recommended nicotine patches rather than nicotine gum. Their view being that as you have to choose to chew the gum or not, it's just as easy to grab a cigarette. As you have the patch on from the morning (I think - haven't read the instructions yet) you don't have to worry about that.
I tried gum last time round and found it wasn't that much of a bother.. but I sometimes forgot to take it with me, meaning I ended up smoking again after 5 days off it. Especially if stuck in a pub or somewhere where there was lots of tempation.
