Current chip leader Mehrdad Saffari has just increased his chip lead. Saffari, so good...

I grabbed a few words with Alex Martin who agreed with my earlier assessment that he was indeed at a strong table.

"I made a bad start losing some chips earlier" he told me and leaned in to whisper quietly "but then I got it back bluffing Praz off a hand! tee hee!" Ok, I admit I am using a bit of poetic licence with Alex's exact words and he may possibly not have said "tee hee!" but he definitely had a mischievous glint in his eye...

He currently has roughly his starting stack of 10,000.

Here he is, striking what he told me was a fearsome pose.

Clearly Jen is not the only one taking liberties with the English Language today. Fearsome Alex?! I've seen scarier kittens than that!

(like this one...any excuse to crowbar a spurious cat reference in!)

No doubt Vicky Coren's hordes of male poker admirers will find this photo, and in particular, the article Vicky was snapped reading, most intriguing...

Chris Moorman has rolled out of bed, looking slightly bleary eyed but cheerful as always. I threatened to photoshop donkey ears onto him but considering the phenomenal start to 2008 Chris has had, I doubt if he was particularly bothered by my toothless threats (especially as I am rubbish at photoshopping!)

Here is the donkey himself...

Ian Cox just played out a hand with a bit of banter on his table.

He raised to 500 preflop from UTG+1 and was called by the amusingly nicknamed Paul "The Lemon" Murrell in the cutoff.

The flop came down and Ian got involved in a bit of banter. "Got any spades mate? What are you planning on doing?"

"If you check, I'm betting!" announced "The Lemon"

"In that case I'd better bet!" said Ian before firing 1500 into the pot.

The Lemon sighed then bitterly folded, giving Ian a sharp acidic stare..."I think you've got a big spade" he said,"  .......should have let me hang myself!" he responded fruitily.

Ian flipped over the rather sweet , happily sweeping up chips, leaving Paul citric to the stomach.

I'm sorry for the above puns but Dana has put me on pun-tilt, temporarily blinding my good taste facility.

After sweeping up that pot, Ian looks to have around 15-16k in his stack, progressing nicely and continuing the hot form he showed in 2007...

Michael Denton is currently chip leader on Table 7 with a Big Ol' Stack, to be precise. To his left is Dervis Ozkarapinar, who finalled at the Luton Christmas Cracker. I like him because he looks like my drummer Tim.

But things may be changing! I understand that My One Percent, Ms Jennifer Mason, has just doubled up with a pair of Queens. Go my 1%!

Meanwhile Red Dog is sharing a table with Iam Woodley and Ross Campbell.

On another table, Praz says he has been "up and down" - currently slightly up. Alex Martin was on 8.5k last I checked; now looking cheerful in the queue for the buffet. Apparently I just missed quads twice on their table. They promised to call me next time it happened.

And again on that actionful table, I saw Leon Campbell raise to 600 preflop, called by Adam Stoneham. Adam checks the Two Clubs flop and Leon moves in for maybe 4k. Adam folds.

Yes vodaphone have restricted access as mentioned, possibly as retribution for Dana's complete thieving of my puns, although this has yet to be confirmed.

HOWEVER, strangely our vodaphone card IS working so although our coverage is slightly crippled we are still able to bring you the latest exciting developments - HOORAY!!!!

Here are some of those...

First off, I bring you news of Vicky Coren's elimination. Her table is unfortunately rather discretely positioned away in the corner, making access quite difficult so I have no information on how she became relatively short but short she was.

I did see how her final few chips went in though. Holding T-4 she called a reraise allin from a mateyboy on a T63 flop only to find herself in bad shape vs Q-Q.

A 7 on the turn gave her a few more outs, but a blank river arrived to send Vicky sadly crashing to the rail.

Next, I'll just elaborate slightly on Jen's double up.

She had raised preflop and received a call from the resident maniac at her table who is also one of the chip leaders (Michael Denton I beleive).

On a flop, Jen pushed all her chips (4.5k ish, pot was 3k) over the line and was ultimately called by Michael who was holding a rather surprising K-4 for bottom pair!

Jen had Q-Q but needed to avoid a bad beat, which she did in style as the turn adn river came 9-9 to give her a superior full house to Michael.

Back to 12k she was last seen wolfing down fishcakes in the dinner break to renew her strength...

Mickey Wernick is on about 4k, Red-Dog about 22k.

Nick Persaud has just doubed up, holding J-4 on a J-4-8 flop all the chips went in versus M Hill's K-K and Hill's cowboys were left sorer than a man who's just spent the night on Brokeback mountain with Flushy.

Nick on the other hand is up to roughly 35k...

Full chip counts from the end of leve 4 to follow...

I'm going to resist the temptation to get involved in the Flushy Brokeback Mountain scenario imaginings and tell you very very quickly before Junglecat gets back and demands his laptop back that there have been some exits while we've been distracted getting all Content Controlled.

I saw Jim "bookiebasher" Moult get himself crippled "playing a flush draw a bit heavy" against a set of Threes - no flush and he was very low. A minute or two later and the bookie has been well and truly bashed and is reduced to chatting to Kev at the rail. Sad

Also OUT is Mr K "probably no relation to Joshua" Taylor, all in preflop with Nines against Mr Alin "All-in!" Rapoport's pocket Jacks.

A short-stacked Dervis "He really really does look like my drummer Tim, Jen thinks so too" Ozkarapinar was seen angrily moving all in on a Jack-high board, but was uncalled. Still in, as far as I know.

83 players remain today.

Apologies for the no-updates-for-ages-then-loads-at-once nature of the updates right now, we are down to one slow-connecty laptop between us, which is lame.

Anyway, I have Seen Many Things. Jen Mason bets out 1800 on a flop and Ian Cox calls. Now Martin William to Cox's left moves all in. Jen dwells up. She folds. Ian dwells up. He calls!

William -

Cox -

Turn -

River

And Martin William and his excellent stripy tank top thing are OUT. Jen wouldn't tell me what she had out loud, but it was most likely better than a Seven and worse than a Jack. I'm guessing Tens. Or Nines. Or Eights.

Jen apparently can't play a hand without someone moving all in on her ass. As it were.

A large pot has formed and the below gent, one Paul Garrad on the list but he asked me to tell the blonde world that his name is actually Dale, moves in, the board reading . Jen folds, eventually. She looks like an angry puppy now.

Jeff Buffenbarger has a Big Ole Stack, maybe 50k or so. Alex Martin says he's playing really well. And if Alex Martin says so, it must be true.

A double-up for young Lee Redmond, who looks like a less world-weary Matt Dale I think. He's still only on 7k or so.

Red Dog approached me to tell me "Ah've lost 3 fahv K pots in a rou-oond!" (I've lost three five thousand chip pots in a round)

He is not happy about this, although possibly he may be more perturbed by my phonetic interpretation of his accent! (I'll find out later I guess...)

Julian and Josh have been swapping chips. Julian related he had lost a hefty 10k chunk to Josh. Josh overheard this and piped in, in his unimitable way "I made a GREEEEATTT call....and you can quote me on that!" So I am.

But Josh's big stack has taken some hits too. "I've lsot about 22k", losing a flip with 3-3 v Ah when the board double paired, then losing a pot to Julian when Julian hit an ace on the river after betting all the way and Josh calling...

He's still on roughly 27k but was a little disappointed not to be up there with the chip leaders. "It's a good structure though Josh, still in good shape" was the best platitude I could muster at the time, to which he agreed.

Just before the break two of the notable shortstacks, Pete Singleton and Dan Carter were allin.

Firstly Pete was allin with A-Q, racing against his opponent's 2-2 and hitting on a board of 6-7-K-Q-7 to augment his dwindling stack...

Then it was Dan's turn, getting allin with K-Q versus his opponent's T-8. "I've got live cards!" yelled his opponent enthusiastically, no doubt happy after finding his fingers caught in the till but a board of J-5-3-2-4 brought no surprises and brought a welcome double up for Dan Carter.

My One Percent, formerly known as Jen Mason, has doubled up!

Ian Cox made it 1600 and the American dude two seats to Jen's right below whose name we think is probably Sacha Rosewood made it 4800. Jen called and Ian got out of the way.

Flop - and I am fairly sure that Jen open-shoved for 9600. With much giggling, Sacha Rosewood (ID confirmation, anyone?) called.

Jen - As

Sacha - um,

Turn and river respectively - - Two Diamonds

I now have One Percent of 28k.

As we are just starting level eight some of these counts will be slightly out of date.
