I think that Mick would be the first person to admit that he is sometimes a bit on the fiery side to say the least , the truth of the matter is that several people were offended by his comments last night (wether intensional or not). Mick had a chance to apologise which he chose not to do, so end of story, let sleeping greyhounds lie.

Chunkymick - I recently spent a night at Luton with you and Mick in the £400 f/o, i was the poor ******** you hit quads on the river to kill my straight, and it was a fun night with lots of banter etc.

Mick's first comment might have been seen by him & others as banter, i dont know, but certaintly he would have seen the responses he was getting before he posted the second statement which was way over the top IMO. And thats where the problem lies.

If Mick genuinely was trying to be funny, he could have resolved it by claryfing this by stating that this was the case rather than continuing and making a bigger deal out of it.

Your right, it is a forum but it if he was being serious regarding the updates, he didnt need to post it on the forum, especially not knowing the difficulties the updaters where facing.

It could understand his comments if it was snoopy doing the updates, but he wasn't!!! Wink

Maybe Julain didnt win? Maybe the updaters couldnt be bothered to update so just spun us the line that julian won, its believable and its a great result for blonde and william hill!!

The truth is out there as they say.

Anybody who really knows Mr McCool, a happy go lucky "tinker" type personality, who cracks jokes at every opportunity would know he mean't no malice.

Its seems so very sad that his comments were taken out of context.

The thing is, most of don't know Mick. We don't actually know a lot of the people on here - we can only make our judgement on what they're like from the way they conduct themselves on here.

Chunkymick, if you did not know Mick, and read his comments on here, what opinion of him would you form? What sort of person would he strike you as?

I've really tried to stay away from this topic, but I can't.

As some of you know, I also update the GUKPT's, but for Blue Square. I am also aware of Mick McCool's "trash talking" reputation, although until now I was unaware of how that came to fruition.

I must be the only one thinks this, BUT these are the WORST UPDATES ever. Wheres the chip counts, no flair and its slower than a tractor on the M25 in RUSH HOUR on the M25.

Come on, APPROX CHIP COUNTS WILL DO.

When the original post was posted, it was pretty much impossible to get chip counts. It was the hand-for-hand bubble time and Zak and Ian had asked all the updaters, not just blonde, to stay to the sides of Brighton's tiny cardroom. Also, Lord Raab and his team give us accurate chipcounts every 2 hours. I personally feel that unless someone specifically requests a certain player's chipcount, or it's a final table and you only have to focus on a few players, then these are accurate enough.

Also, the distance between the Press Room and the Cardroom was the second longest I've ever been at. The entrance to the rear of the cardroom was at the other end of the casino, then it was up FOUR flights of stairs, through 2 doors, down the corridor, then there was the Press Room hidden away in the corner. It took a full 5 minutes to get there, then say 15-20 minutes to report, and another 5 minutes back. That's half an hour since you last left, and a LOT can happen in half an hour. My own strategy of updating was to get as much info as I can (often spending 30 minutes+ on the floor) and then produce a summary post of the big hands. There was no point giving out chipcounts as by the time it all went up on the blog, they were obsolete.

Added to this, the internet connection was truly dreadful for all parties, due to a fault with the BT line. It was constantly off, and updaters were constantly having to rewrite posts. I was typing mine in MS Word first just incase this happened to me! It was also taking 5+ minutes to load a page and/or post.

Maria they would certainly be better than your attempts! As a matter of fact l could probably go to the local graveyard, dig up a couple of corpse's, give then a laptop and a Vodafone Dongle, with an SAS assault course to cover to get to the press room from the cardroom and they would be better updates than the ones you have been involved in.

I've had the pleasure of working with Maria at some of the GUKPT's last year, and like the rest of the blonde team, she's a damn good updater. Also, updating is not the ridiculously easy job it's made out to be. Big hands can often be played out ridiculously fast, or there can be big all in's on 3 consecutive tables at once, and whilst its easy to just note down the cards and the betting, updaters generally have to try and remember everything else that goes with the hand, the reactions, the quotes etc. You try doing that for over 10 hrs a day. It's a lot harder than it looks.

Also, I personally thought this particular post was rather tasteless as I'm sure you're all aware that Rod lost his father recently. Even if the post was aimed at Maria, all of the blonde updating team would probably have found this offensive, and quite rightly. I was offended, and I'm a blonde that updates, not an Updating Team member.

If Mick does not want to apologise, and instead chooses to leave blonde, then that is his choice. He can go and read updates somewhere else instead. But they will be a lot different from the Blonde Updates, as AWOP and BSQ updates are a vastly different style. Mick might prefer those, who knows?

Adam.

I think Adam sums this up well, if you dont like the FREE updates then look elsewhere, imo these are the best updates on the net and Blonde has the best update team in the business and should be proud of there efforts.
