FT or a 50 runner £25 + single rebuy top up comp
500000 chips in play
9 runners left 5 paid

you only have 33k but the blinds are only 800/1600 with 100ante

the whole comp has been passive lots of people limping in very little preflop raising
NO trap play big hands are always bet (and often called)

UTG limps (about average stack) in its folded round to you in the SB and you find that gem of an hand AK

you make it 6,800 UTG squirms looks uncomforatble dwells for a few seconds counts out a call moves some chips round and then says all in

do you call?

was the orginal raise too big? i thought it was slightly over pot which would win me the money in the middle which i would be happy with

fold for me
Logged

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Call and race. UTG limp/pushers tend to have KK/AA a fair bit in comps these days..especially when they play-act but ussually your AK will be good here.

I think the pre-flop raise you made was too big for AK and that's why he's not putting you on AK but low/middle pair and he can push.

I call relatively quickly.

26K to call, pot is 43k. So we need 37% equity in the pot. If we assign him a super tight range, he has small pp's quite often here imo.

  46,232,208  games     0.005 secs     9,246,441,600  games/sec

Board:
Dead:

equity    win    tie          pots won    pots tied
Hand 0:    39.785%     23.66%    16.13%          10936805      7456889.50   { AcKh }
Hand 1:    60.215%     44.09%    16.13%          20381624      7456889.50   { JJ+, AKs, AKo }

Looks a clear call to me.

my read on him discounted ALL of the above

as i said table was not playing trappy AQ+ 99+ would have been an opening raise

i knew i was at worst 45/55 in this pot (race) but more often than not a big favourite via AJ AT and maybe even as low as QTs

thing is we still have deep stacks should i be racing knowing i am not in trouble and i can see lots of cheap flops and get my chips in in a spot where i know i am 3-1 ahead

I take any significant edge i can get, if you are at WORST have 45% equity in this pot, its an insta call.

Don't over estimate edge, you are erroding by simply turning down +ev situations like this. We are not that deep if we pass here, you are going to guarentee getting it in as 3-1 fave 15bb's deep with an escalating clock? I think only the superuser account on absolute has this ability in poker.

Huwah? Less than 20BBs is nowhere near deepstacked!! With your stack size you should be currently looking for eaxactly this type of spot to get it in preflop. Callcallcallcallcallcallcall.

yeah my stack had just dipped below deep stacked but the table average was 35 bbs and deep enough

not sure if i was thinking right at the time as i just made a big laydown with TT on a 9 7 5 board in EP after i raised preflop got called in 2 spots and reraised on the flop

Your only as deep as your stack or the person your in the pot with stack. Iron you are not deep, take every significant edge you have.

as i said i did call

my thinking afterwards though was

that i dont like calling all in

infact i hate having all my chips in the middle before i have an UNBEATABLE hand in a TOURY as once your out your out

if i had folded giving up my edge i still had alot of chips left and i could seriously hurt peoples stack so should be able to take down some pots uncontested

thinking about it in cold light of day i think i was right in calling and that the orignal raise was the right one as it was just slightly over pot i was in SB so didnt really want to see a flop which a smaller raise would of gotten me so the pot raise was better than the standard raise IMHO

and the call knowing that i was no more than a small dog to any hand in his range and a big favourite against alot was the right move even if it cost me my seat
