From next season PL teams can name 7 subs.

Its hard not to think that somebody somewhere doesn't want the bigger clubs to be pulled back in.

tbh I really don't have much opinion on this particular change, however, along with many other changes over the past few years it goes on my pile marked 'leave the bloody game alone'.

yes, introducing subs to the game was a good move but there was nothing wrong with having 3 subs, nothing wrong with 5 either so why the need to fix it when it ain't broke?

hopefully this isn't a move towards 30 player squads and rolling subs

agreed

this season a number of lower league managers are complaining that they cannot get talent out on loan from the big clubs, this will make it even worse

good point. I've now changed my mind from no real opinion to being against this.

I love the loan system, one of the few things in the game that truly benefits clubs of all sizes, would be a real shame to see it suffer

i agree it will hurt the loan system,i wouldn't like to see the amount of substitutions allowed increased in a game because this would be abused, time wasting , but i wouldn't mind if they tried out re substitution, especially for players who have taken a knock and feel fit enough to go back on,i think it would make a game far more better being able to bring your top striker back on if you need him

interesting.

how would you like to see this work?

would you class this as 2 substitutions (1 for the player going off, 1 for him coming back on again) or have it similar to a blood sub in rugby?

good point about do you class it as 1 or 2 substitutions, i think if you do make resubs  count as 1 it will be abused, never follow rugby but if theres a rule in another sport which works well i see no problem having the same rule,

I know I said in my first post on this thread that we should leave the game alone but there are 2 rules (taken from rugby among other games) that I think would be good.

Firstly an equivalent of the blood sub to be used in an instance where an injury is caused to a player by an opponent. The injured players team should not have to be penalised by either playing a man short while the player receives treatment or by having to make a substitution when a player will be patched up in 10 minutes.

Secondly a sin bin for certain offences that don't really merit a red card

both good ideas to me, but there very unwilling to change anything sometimes, its only a small thing but it shows how they can be stubborn, if a goalkeeper has the ball in his hands and is about to go to edge of penalty area to kick it out of his hands and is fouled,he has to put the ball down on the spot of the foul and then nobody in his team can touch the ball after he kicks it till its outside the penalty area, its a very little thing and is no big deal just annoys me that this stupid rule has never been changed,

Is that not what yellow cards are for?

not really,if someone kicks the ball away, yellow card, he moans about a free kick 5 mins later another yellow and he is off, its a bit harsh i think, another punishment might be a good idea for these type of offences
