The Amazing Human Body

I received a phone call from my parents on Friday telling me that my sister had had a stroke on Wed. They hadnt been able to get hold of me as i was moving to Vegas.
My dad got a call from my sister Wed morning he couldnt understand what she was saying and at first didnt even realise it was her. He dialed 911 and got her and amblance. My sister Mariewas sitting on the sofa having taken her dog for a walk an hour earlier and had a stroke. She is 22 years old and as fit as anyone out there. The whole righthand side of her body was paralyised and she couldnt get up. Luckily her roommate was in but in the shower. She discovered Marie on the sofa and she too called an ambulance and went with her to the hospital.
My parents live in Williamsburg Virginia and my sister is in Bristol Virginia some 6 hours drive. So my parents were straight in the car and driving and god knows what speeds to get to her. When they arrived Marie had a room full of her friends there saying hi and checking up on her. The doctors had ran nearly every test known to man on my sister. They tested her heart ran dye through her brain took gallons of blood from her but could find nothing wrong. Apparently with a stroke you have 2 danger windows 3 hours and 24 hours once you get through each of these two wndows your chances improve.
So 48 hours after Marie has had her stroke and im talking to her on the phone and you would never know anything had happened she had left the hospital and my parents had driven her home to there house. She was told to rest by the doctors for the next 4-6 weeks for her body to get its strength back and to take 1 junior asprin a day.
So apart from scareing the hell out of herself and my parents you would never know anything had happened to her. The doctors say that just because she has had a stroke doesnt make her anymore likely to have another one. She could live to be 100 and never have another one her odds are the same as anyon elses.
So what can you say when this happens just be grateful it wasnt worse i guess and always look on the brightside of life as someone once said
Some things are more important than poker and badbeats
