Depnds at what level they are "rated".....Cruyff for me should never be considered at the same level of Pele, Maradonna, Puscas, Moore, Best et al.

And to please the Bandit, Boruc is currently one of the most overrated players IMO. And I did see the saves at the weekend.

Any English player that has the phrase 'world class' used about them would fit the bill too.

Hmmmm, Steve Gerard surely must be considered as world class?

lol, nowhere near. Just coz he is the best we have and we see him every week does not make him world class, it just makes him the best we have.

please define what makes a current world class player for me Phil

PMSL - I am serious about that though.  Had a few good seasons in Scotland failed in Italy, Germany and England.

I think Stevie G is by far englands best player and would fit easily into any club squad in the world- I dont think there is any other english player you could say that about

Maybe, I dont really care as I loved going to watch him week in/week out, only wish we had a player with half the talent he had. Besides it wasnt as if he didnt achieve- he won the european championships, he played a blinder in his last world cup and came 5th in world player of the year in 1992 so dont think he could be classed as "overrated"- only really people in scotland rated him TBH

Well this sounds a little simple but to be world class you need to be the top player/or players in that position. Gerrard is simply very good but not near the top whereas players like Pirlo, Messi, the two Ronnies etc are real world class.

Cant agree with Crouch. He scores goals when he plays, and hes good!

Agree with Alan Smith comment. WTF does he actually do.

And even tho i hate Scum, id go with Owen not Rooney atm.

ronaldinho plays left mid
messi behind the front man
ronaldo plays right mid
pirlo centre mid

can you name a team in the world the gerrard cant get into  I dont rate a centre mid in the world above Gerrard

You're kidding right??

Although I agree on Crouch, built for purpose. Like Lineker and McCoist, not the greatest of players but they could score goals...........that's what they were paid to do and they both done it well.

Well I would add Rooney into that category. I don't think Terry and Ferdinand are far off getting into any team worldwide either, the rest though are not close.

Who mentioned the positions they play in as a factor as to Gerrards class? The two ronnies are world class wide men, Messi a world class 'hole' player. That doesnt mean that gerrad is a world class centre midfielder becasue other world class players play in different positions does it?

Pirlo is diff gravy to him, Zidane was diff class to him.

All time George Best, great talent only last 3/4 years until self destructing. You are not an all time great over 3/4 years imo.
