Some chippy counts that you might be interested in:

Julian Thew -- 16,875
Jen Mason -- 29,750
Nicolas Levi -- 9,875
Jeff Buffenbarger -- 33,125
Graham Wheldon -- 48,850
Colin Kennedy -- 7,050

Marius Arnesen is OUT, James Keys the assassin. Ac-Ah vs. Kc-J, Jh-2d-2c-9h-Tc board.

-------------

As Joe Grech raises from early position to 1,600 (blinds 300/600), Adam Vinson quickly makes it 7k to play. The action returns to Grech who asks how much Adam is playing (the reply was 12k) before opting to flat call. After Joe checks the 8-J-3 rainbow Flop, Adam swiftly pushes his remaining stack across the line. "How much is it?" inquires Joe searching for a more accurate account. "Vinson lied!" I think to myself as the dealer counts out 12,350. Upon hearing the answer, Joe takes a deep inhale, sizes up his opponent briefly and counts out 12,350. Realising that he would be down to just the bare minimum (grays and oranges only), Joe gives it one last mull, including a semi feign of a call to gauge a reaction, before making a very brave call with Pocket Tens. Vinson shows A-K, and prays for aid, but it doesn't come, the dealer popping out a harmless 4 of hearts and 4 of spades on the Turn and River respectively. "Well done," says Vinson as he exits.

Helge Stjernvang limps and Jen raises from the button; Stjernvang (I just love the sound of that name - Stjernvannnggggg) calls.

They both check the flop, and then Stjernvng bets out 2100 on the turn. Jen folds. Looks irked.

By the way, not sure if Snoops caught it and posted it up (I am now no longer reading any of his posts, as a matter of principle), but Marcus Bebb-Jones, himself on 10k which is beginning to look a little scant, filled me in on the hand where Jeremy Longley got most of his chips. Apparently Longley had re-raised S Wan, and they had thrown all their chips in as the culmination of a raising war on the Qx flop. S Wan was holding pocket Sixes for a set, Longley was holding, er, . Club on the river, obviously.

-----------

Whoever said poker was easy? Kevin Chandler endures a double bypass as his all-in with Nines versus Ritchie Allen's A-K sees an Ace hit the 8-A-3-7 board before a third nine gives Chandler a second lifeline. Richie, meanwhile, drops to 30-35k.

Howard Smith is OUT, moving in preflop with and finding a caller in F Meoni holding .

Board - three diamonds Two Clubs and Howard couldn't duck out of this one. He's headed for the bar.

-----------

James Keys, heavily supported by a now departed Dominic Kay, has just doubled up. I didn't see the action, but I did witness the following situation:

(1) Lots of chips in the middle
(2) A rainbow 8-Q-3-J-7 board
(3) T-9 in front of James Keys
(4) An elated James Keys scooping in loads of chips
(5) A devastated Louis Schwartz weeping into his now paltry stack

------------

A handful of your current chip daddies:

(1) Jeremy Longley -- 76.5k
(2) F Meoni -- 67k
(3) Brian Johnson -- 61.5k
(4) Willie Tann -- 59k
(5) Anthony Quinn -- 47k

"Great call," shouts an onlooker. "You're amazing," compliments 'The Rockstar' John Conroy.

With the board reading , I arrive just in time to see Thomas Dunwoodie call a mammoth all-in River bluff from Terry Simpson, the latter mucking (although a Seven did flip over) and allowing the Geodie to proudly reveal his .

And to add to that list of Chip Daddies, we have one monstrous Chip Mummy. Not sure what happened preflop, but the chips went in on the flop, with that classic Aces versus 5-2 offsuit all-in combo.

Actually it was a coinflip, the flop read and said Aces - were in the hands of Jen Mason; her opponent, known only as Matteo on the player list, had the 5-2.

Turn -
River -

And Jen is not looking quite as jubilant as she should but her inner monologue is probably going something along the lines of, "Go me, I'm so awesome, I've got I reckon 44k now and wouldn't it just be fantastic if for once I could give Dana something back on her 1% investment."

Matteo is virtually out, with barely a k to his name...

Meanwhile Aces were not so standy-uppy for unfortunate D Anderson. He got them in against the pocket Kings of Steve Townsend, only for another King to come on the turn. He takes it well, considering, with handshaking and similar niceties. Will not attempt to guess at his inner monologue, it's probably not blonde-compliant.

Also newly doubled up is Mr Kevin O'Leary, all in pre with against Andy Greekfish's .

Board an unbelievable (imagine accompanying oohs and ahhhhs) .

Says Mr Greekfish, "You sick ****er!" And who can blame him. Much giggling.

ok,

some Jen's updates ?

some Devilfish's and Nicolas Levi's too ?

Not sure about Devilfish or Nicholas, I'll be back with those counts in a bit, but Jen herself has pulled well into the reckoning with a handsome stack that is around the 54k mark I believe.

I was sure that the cumulative avalanche of chips gravitating with almost inevitable accuracy toward Jen's stack would result in her delivering me a soundbite that was full of poise, confidence and verve.

This was her grandiloquent statement.

"Biscuits, like bring me biscuits man. I need biscuits, seriously, like just give me some biscuits. Please!!!"

There we have it. Jen employing all the literary, imaginative skills at her disposal to ask for some bloody digestives. The cat is happy to turn waiter though, if it increases Jen's chances.

"Ok Jen, they're on their way."

Other assorted counts from the midst of the arena.

Kevin O'Leary 37k
Bambos 33k
Marc Goodwin 16k, although he seemed more interesting in Pietersen smashing a kiwi spinner for 6, the nearby TV showing footage of the current England New Zealand game. Marc!
Anthony Quinn 49k
Nick Gibson 8.5k
Ian Cox 11.5k
Richie Allen 27k

There are moments left before the end of level 9, where there will be a short hiatus where the players can rest their weary limbs (and stuff their faces with biscuits)

The Rise and Fall of Bambos

After eliminating Andrew Andreou with A-T versus A-J on a 9-T-3-A-2 board, Bambos' near 50k stack then went hurtling towards the now chip leader Brian Johnson. I didn't personally catch the hand in question, but according to my source, it was a Big Slick versus Queens affair with all the chips flying in on a Jack high Flop. As a result, a stunned Bambos is on his way home (well, the cash game) whilst Brian Johnson jumps into the lead with well over 100k in chips.

Those requested updates and current chip counts -

Devilfish has around 50k, although it looks like more because they're largely in low-denomination chips. Young girlfriend is nowhere to be seen, although he keeps nipping off somewhere so she may be in the bar or similar.

Nicolas Levi, I'm afraid, is nowhere to be seen, presumed for the moment busted.

Terry Simpson - around 35k.

Kevin O'Leary has dropped a few since those counts as well - he's down to 7k or so and not long for this tournament, barring double-ups and things, which can obviously happen. Lord it's late. More press sandwiches!
