Booking At The Rio
«

I'm staying at the Rio this year for the WSOP but was just wondering when I need to book by to ensure that I get a room. Do they run out? etc etc. I plan to stay for 3.5 weeks. Thx in advance.

Are you working or playing this year Snoopy?
Why do you want to stay at the Rio?
How long is 3.5 weeks?

I'm working.
I want to stay at the Rio because it's close to where I'm working (ie. no taxi fares or long walks).
3.5 weeks is from 30th May to 22nd June.

I'd like to book on Expedia, but would not right at this moment, which is why I'm asking really. Don't want to come back in a fortnight and find that that that booking is no longer available.
Just two in the party, Dana and myself, so one double.

The rooms are nice but make sure that you get one in the tower that is closest to the cardroom (there are two) or you'll have an extra half-mile each way walk which can become tiresome, well it is for us mature folk anyhow.
PS
As soon as you get up go to The Palms for breakfast as it is only a $5 cab ride and the food is 5x better and half of the price

I think all Rio rooms are suites.
Also they will be about 3 times the price of the Orleans which is a $ 8 cab ride away.
How come your not staying at the Orleans this year Snoops?
You could try the Gold Coast which is next door to the Rio if they are sold out, thats where a lot of players stay too

Don't know if it runs during WSOP but when I was out In LV last month there was a free regular shuttle from Harrah's strip properties (Paris and Flamingo for sure) to Rio. Depends how much time you want to spend travelling.

I'm not footing the bill, so, as long as I don't book the Wynn or Bellagio, I can stay where I want... within reason.
I've stayed in other casinos whilst working the World Series, and it's a pain in the ass in terms of commuting to the cardroom every day, so the Rio is the only choice for me.
I'm just worried that the rooms will fill up pronto if I don't book my room in the next few days.

Book it then. If you're not paying what's the delay?

Maybe it would be him paying if he booked it now. Hence the quandry.

It takes just about the same length of time to walk from the WSOP convention centre to the Gold Coast as it does walking to the rooms in the Rio, so basically its the same as staying there in terms of commuting to work. At a third of the price of the Rio, it has to be worth considering.

As I understand it, we have to pay for the hotel ourselves and then invoice the relevant parties afterwards. If we book through Expedia or similar, we have to pay the whole lot upfront before we go - obviously we'll get it back, but it's a massive amount of money to pay now without any hope of getting it back probably until July. I'm thinking if we can just book the room now we can get away with just paying some sort of smallish deposit now and paying the balance when we check out - it's still a bit awkward but I reckon we can successfully juggle our finances by then such that we'll be able to pay upon leaving... However if you book online with the Rio, they won't let you book for longer than a week or so. Is most frustrating. We can probably in theory get the money together to pay it upfront but it'll most likely take us a little while - hence the wondering if it's going to fill up soon... Any advice appreciated...

Dana im in the Rio eiher today or tomorrow ill speak to someone and ill see if the room can be booked for the dates you are looking for and for longer than 10 days at a time. Hopefully they should be able to hold the room for you without the total balance being paid. Ill report back my findings. fingers crossed
