I'll post it and if it is out of line they can delete it - they have proven skill in this area! :p

ThePersonInQuestion comes to PTP - "Hello everybody I am **********, Bracelet winning poker player (I will not roll), writing an article on staking and money behind poker. I will become an excellent member of this site (I will not roll) for my research and it looks like fun. I am also mates/mentored by Dave Colclogh (I will not roll) and a member of Blonde forums (I will not roll). Here are my wikipedia and pocketfives entries (I will not roll).

Let's try this Buy A Piece thing out. I will play x games in this month for which I will need $4500.

PTP members (including me) - Here is $4500 ThePersonInQuestion, gl!!

A month later - PTP members - Hey ThePersonInQuestion, you have only played about $600 worth of games, what's going on?

ThePersonInQuestion - Sorry, hectic life, I'll get onto it now. Let's win some money!!

Some time later... PTP members - Anyone seen ThePersonInQuestion?

A while after all of this a PTP member signed up to Blonde and sent ThePersonInQuestion a PM. His response was that he had organised someone to log in and pay back for him (:~) and that he would be on the week after to rectify it. He logged onto PTP and sent a similar message to investors. We have not heard from him since. As he was seen to be active here, a bunch of PTP members came here and started threads regarding him in the hope that he would see them or someone would tell him about them, trying to get a message to him that we are still waiting for him.

Now we all know the sayings like buyer beware etc etc. But by the same token if someone has an inkling of how to get in touch with him then they will follow that up. Normally on PTP it is harder to raise that amount of money as a new member, you would need a heller rep and references as a noob, but some of us were seduced by the bracelet and the contacts he claimed. Someone who has been there for some time and shown trustworthiness by shipping winnings and stakes to investors/horses time after time would be more likely to raise these kinds of funds and do so often. ThePersonInQuestion rolled and people are trying to encourage him to pay back.

But where does the yak come into it - you know, the bit where he gets glued?

Thanks cfx, that sounds like a mess for sure. I hope both parties get a good and proper solution sorted out.

Do I understand correctly, people who had never met/didn't know him personally gave him money?

This is correct. It is how the forum works everyday with one exception. To raise funds of that amount you would normally have to be a proven and fairly senior member as well a great player. ThePersonInQuestion was neither and investors paid for it.

So I could come on this forum you mention and claim to be "Phil Helmuth" or some named player and people would invest in me? Or am I missing something? surely you check these people out!

And for the benefit of cxf (see I got it right), his name is NOT "mug", it's mfi. OK?

Now, I'm worried about that yak. Tell us more, Sir. And did they smoke a kipper?

Not quite. You could come on and say you were whoever you are and get small stakes and build up your rep. ThePersonInQuestion said he was who he was, ran a couple of small stakes first, posted rails from the Pstars screen name "flopit20" which is his on every profile out there. It was him.
