"Mike, Mike," exclaims Mickey Wernick beckoning over his sponsor. "Look at this for a beat, hit it on the Turn."

On a board, Frenchman Antoine Nahas had bet out 8k, only for Mickey to hesitantly call with , saying "Got the full house? If you've got the full house, you've won" as he hovered the chips over the felt.

As Mickey planted the 8k onto the baize, Antoine flipped over , much to the Worm's dismay. "Yeah, you got it," he sighs in admission.

Mickey down to 7k and, dare I say it, looking mighty pissed off.

Looking like the Robert Wadlow of poker as he rises from his chair and puffs his beating chest out, Frenchman Eric Larcheveque prays for divine assistance from the poker gods as his paltry in comparison A-8 goes tete-a-tete with Chaoul Berdugo's A-T. With an Eight hitting the K-Q-8 Flop, Eric finds all his prayers answered immediately as Chaoul can do nothing but bang his fist on the table. A Five Turn and Nine River are of no use and Chaoul drops down to 17.5k. Eric, meanwhile, although donning a smile wider than Pavarotti's pants, still only has 6k.

The most curious question that was left on this blogger's lips, however, was what could possibly be in that shiny green bottle?

Ms Mad Harper of Pokerstars Presents...

PIE CHART TAKE 2: AN APOLOGY

I hope you all feel bad now. It sort of reminds me of watching the Open University at home when I was off sick from school - like these guys should be pointing to it with a stick -

I've been waiting all day for that pie chart, and now it's arrived, I just can't contain myself. I'm like a child on Christmas Day who has been forced to wait till the evening before getting his presents.

Wow, it appears as though Dana and I have solved a true mystery. We'd been wondering what happened to Dario Minieri and, on closer inspection of the bottle, it would appear as though the little fella has gone and got himself trapped inside. He must have spotted something shiny in there and wandered in aimlessly. We must get him out, there are Porsches to be driven and supernovas to be achieved for heaven's sake! Thank God that bald chap spotted him before it was too late.

Steve Paul-Ambrose, who, I believe, won the Caribbean Poker Adventure a year or two back, was last spotted walking away from the table, down the hallway and towards the exit with a face like a smacked bottom. I've never claimed to be the brains of Britain, but I'd say that suggests he's out.

Manuel Palanca - 22k (his table was broken so forgive Snoopy's declaring him out, is most easily done in the Monte Carlo Poker Factory)

Rumit Somaiya - 13k. Oh no, hang on! As I'm standing there chatting with him, confessing that I haven't done any chip counts in a while so I can't really tell him who the chip leaders are, that sort of thing, a Mateyboy makes it 1300 utg and Rumit is the sole caller. They both check the flop, and then UTG MB checks the turn - Rumit bets 1800 and takes it. "How much have you got now?" say I. "Is that 15k?" Says Rumit - "If it is, that's the first time all day!"

Rumit Somaiya - 15.4k, and beaming.

This isn't particularly relevant, but Gus Hansen was last seen chatting to railer Isabelle Mericer, and, unless my eyes deceived me, I believe I saw some cheeky Danish hand on French bum action. Unbelievable! She said she was holding out for me, and then she does this to me. I'd been beating women off with a stick thinking we were gonna hook up, and now her and Gus are getting jiggy in the cardroom! Bah, humbug, I run so bad!  Angry

We are literally minutes away from the end of play, at which point we intend to scarper at high speed to avoid the miserable 45-minute wait for a taxi in front of the casino that we had to endure last night. In fact, the clock has stopped! Snoops says they've cleared the press out of the tournament area for the last 5 hands so we are so out of here...

Mad Harper says no chip counts or payout until tomorrow Sad but we'll be back bright and early with all that good stuff. See you for Day 2 at 1pm (12 noon GMT)...
