if alonso where to leave it would be 2 a team as good if not better than liverpool whereas all the rest would likely have to take a step down from where there at.I would rather have alonso the mascherano

I wouldnt. Mascherano's work allows alonso to manage the game. They work in tandem, allowing Gerrard to pick up all the plaudits.

I understand that Rafa was forced into 1 subsitution but if Crouch can't get on in a game where they needed goals then when is he ever going to get on?
Time to leave Crouch.

Crouch isn't good enough for Liverpool. If they want to be genuinely challenging for the title, having Kuyt and Crouch as your strikers, will not get you there.

Kuyt hasn't played as a striker all season.  He's been playing right-mid, and playing well.

Crouch can't be good enough if he's on the bench.  When he does play, he scores and contributes a lot to the side.  Feel sorry for him.

WAT?

Kuyt has come into form recelty, but ultimately, he isn't good enough.

Crouch is just lol. He would do well in a mid table team, but to be playing for Liverpool...

Im with you Nem.

Need to sell Kuyt, Pennant and crouch in the close season 2 strikers 1 being a big name and a right winger required

I disagree.  Having watched most of Liverpool's games this season, Kuyt has been one of the better players.  Pennant hasn't had a run in the team, so it's harsh to criticise someone who isn't playing week in, week out.

As for Crouch it's the same.  He plays, and he scores or adds to the side.   Both Crouch and Kuyt are in double figures this season.  Not bad for a squad player and a right-midfielder.

i agree, kuyt has been brilliant this season, i dont think he is the  problem, and expect him to be at liverpool for years to come, we had chelsea for 15 min after we equalised  we started passing the ball round and playing for extra time ,i couldnt understand that, sometimes its just a matter of attitude and chelsea  had that in the 1sf half of extra time , i hope they go on to win in moscow

Oh, and even though I usually call him all sorts, I was happy for Lampard tonight.  Yes, it's his job, and yes he's an over-paid footballer - but I'm sure he's give all the money away to have his mum back.  Thought he did very well tonight.

I agree. Lamps doesn't usually turn up against us at all but tonight he was very good.

I thought that Lampard was pretty poor during the whole match...

No defence splitting passes or 30 yard screamers but broke up play well and never lost the ball.

i agree, kuyt has been brilliant this season,

I cant agree with this, Kuyt has had 10-12 decent games during FEB/MAR/APR, up until he was mediocre and quite simply poor... He fathers death is obviously a fair reason and excuse for this, but these last 2 months have masked his v. poor first 6 months to this season...

kuyt has been the 1 player who has been able to get the ball upfield on his own and keep posession till support comes, then laying off ,he causes a lot of defences trouble chasing them down, he  dosent loose the ball cheaply like a few other players, its not just his work rate either he wins the ball ,he has been playing on the wing most of the time,i would like to see him move infield a lot more, when he does do this he has a bigger impact on the game,

Essien, Terry and Drogba all played better than Lampard last night. Yet he is getting all the plaudits from others because he scored a penalty the week after his mother died; the subconscious mind at work.

He played better in the first leg IMO.

Overall though, we looked tired and some of the players had sub-standard performances (Gerrard, Alonso, Torres, and others) - and against your Chelseas and Manus you need all 11 (and the subs) to play at the top of their game.  Chelsea were the better side over the game.

It wasn't a dull 0-0 though that many were expecting!

Really? played crap then surely.

Oh no, he still put the ball through assist or no assist he saw Arbeloa out of position and punished him.
Some people just don't want him to get plaudits just because they think he's getting the sympathy vote.
