Inbound e-Mail today.,.....

VICTORIA COREN JOINS TEAM POKERSTARS

UK’s ‘Princess of Poker’ signs for the world’s largest online poker site

London, UK – April 24th, 2008: PokerStars.com, the world’s largest online poker site, today announced the addition of Victoria Coren to Team PokerStars Pro. Ranked 10th in the Women’s All Time Money Winners List, Coren was the 2006 London European Poker Tour Champion and is the UK’s second most successful female player with lifetime tournament winnings of over $1.2 million.

Coren took up poker aged 16 and has been a regular cash game player at London’s Grosvenor Victoria Casino for a number of years. In EPT Season 3, she became one of the most popular champions ever when she claimed the fist prize of £500,000 at her home casino, ‘The Vic’.

Away from the baize, Victoria Coren is a well-known author, journalist and broadcaster. She writes weekly columns for The Observer and Guardian newspapers and has presented the BBC TV programme Balderdash and Piffle as well as BBC Radio 4’s Off the Page show. She also regularly appears as a guest on other radio comedy and discussion shows and has provided commentary for several televised poker tournaments.

Thomas Wyse, PokerStars.com UK Marketing Manager said: “Vicky is probably the most popular female poker player in the UK and certainly one of the most successful. Not only is she the first and only woman to win an EPT, but she has proved to be an enthusiastic and eloquent ambassador for poker in general.”

“I’m genuinely proud and happy to be an ambassador for PokerStars, I have played on the site for years,” said Coren. “And I’m especially delighted to help promote the EPT, which was already my favourite tournament series even before I won in London. The only difference is that I used to play it in cheaper shoes. Team PokerStars Pro, is a line up of some of the most exciting and memorable characters in modern poker, I’m really chuffed to be joining them.”

Victoria Coren will play the European Poker Tour and other tournaments alongside her fellow members of Team PokerStars Pro including world champions Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer and Joe Hachem, poker legends Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu and a host of other EPT champions and elite players including Luca Pagano, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Dario Mineri and Isabelle Mercier.

A very good signing, obviously.

Good-looking, media profile away from poker, middle-class (thus 'respectable'). Hopefully this will mean we'll hear more of her on the EPT broadcasts.

Away from the baize

Are poker tables referred to as 'baize'?

Felt, yes. Cloth, maybe. Baize - surely that's snooker?

I thought Vicky was already part of the Stars team? I remember her appearing in Stars gear after her EPT win.

Or maybe that was a temporary situation following the win.

She'd worn the Stars gear several times since, but this makes things official

Tighty just wanted to use "baize" in a press release and since Steve Davis is still not a sponsored player he hasn't yet had the opportunity to use it.

If you refer to the alleged incident or "inappropriate comments" that were Reported in the blonde Live Update, Vicky later Posted to state that it was incorrectly reported, which we accepted.

Mr Kendall,

I wasn't referring to the incident which you mentioned, although thanks for reminding me as I was standing watching that table when it happened so blonde poker can take any stance it wants to on it. I know the other person involved very credibly wanted to forget it as soon as it happened anyway
