I paid £750 for a packard bell lappie around 4 years ago and it has worked brilliantly for me but i just think its about time i upgraded.
I am not very techinal or know very much about computers/laptops to be honest just wondering could some1 point me in the right direction about a new lappie willing to spend in around £750 also all i really use it for is poker and dont play more than 4 tables at once.
Thanks in advance

Im not the best bloke to ask for the techie side of things, but Pixmania always have cracking deals on laptops, I got mine and my missuses for about £150 less than PC World each at the time.

I'm not much use with these things but I'm pretty sure that you won't need to spend £750 if it's just for poker.

I bought new laptop just after christmas for £400 which is more than capable of what you need it for laptop's are a lot cheaper then when you bought yours 4 yrs ago so anything upto 350 400 £ would be more than capable for what you need it for.Have a look on internet and you should be able to find some decent offers.

I bought a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 5 months ago for £350 - 120GB hard disc , 1 Gb RAM and it has been fantastic. Just use it for surfing and poker but it plays DVD's so i can watch them whilst i am in a big MTT. Any of the main brands will be good for your uses. The only decision you will have to make is what operating system to go for. i have Vista home premium and for me i have not had any problems with it at all. i have however read on forums etc that it is not as good as Windows XP and you should go for that. I cant tell you which is better or why, you will need to make that choice yourself.

Dont get an Advent laptop and I wouldnt spend more than £500.
Look for 2gig of ram and a Centrino Duo chipset from a reputable brand and you will be sorted.

check the dell XPS range that you see advertised in the paper-they are great laptops you are getting for £550-I ended up going for a toshiba satellite with 2gb RAM and 160gb HD for £450 but wish I'd just spent the extra £100 when I seen the XPS

But seen as he has the sole intention of playing poker on it don't you think it's not really neccesarry for him to buy a high spec laptop when its just not needed. You would be wasting money imo if you were to spend more than £400 on a laptop unless you think you may wish to use it for games or something more demanding than just playing poker.

yeah your probably right I do use mine for downloading and gaming a bit so thats why I was interested in it-but just thought for the extra £100 might be worth getting the high spec. If you multi table and on different sites I would suggest getting 2gb RAM however-think you can get lappies with 2gb RAM for £350 now

I bought one of these too in Tesco last month. Same price but has 2Gb RAM. Pi**es over the packard bell I bought for twice the price last year.

If you are using vista it needs 2gb of RAM
after that it is down to what you are going to use it for
