As it is every year the betting is dominated by the horses that did well in the Guinneas but I had a look at the card and for some reason Nownownow is 33-1 on betfair. This horse won the Breeders cup juvenile (turf) at the end of last year and, although that was on dire ground, does handle firm as his two wins before that show. Anyone else think 33-1 is a bit on the big side ? I haven't had a bet on the race yet but this looks a decent EW bet...has anyone heard anything about an interrupted preparation for this one?

no news in racing reports, i would be concerned the horse has not had a run before a big race ,it is also entered in a big race at ascot in 3 weeks, but the trainers form in small races is very good over the last week, so the stable is in form.i still think its a 2 horse race but i wouldnt put you off it.

I haven't read any interviews with the trainer about his plans for the horse. Do you think the Ascot race is his main goal rather than the Irish guinneas?

thoughts on Nahoodh in the 1000? I think in terms of value, laying this beast is probably the right play, not yet, but in the win market on the day of the race. His run in the English version was very very eye-catching, but everyone will think this, and maybe overbet it? a lot of horses that have raced like that have found nothing when being ridden hard, so I think that there is going to be too much money lumped on it, on the back of its last run, which drives the price too short, making it a value-lay.

In the 2k, I dont really know what to think, I dont think the form of the top 2 is as good as it looks, given the raggy quality of the horse that came third. Ibn Khaldun is probably the one I'd go for, but I dont know how likely that is to run.

Of course, im a losing sportsbettor, so take that for what its worth.

I've not checked out the prices but I agree Nownownow is a good place prospect and the lack of a run wouldn't put me off backing it for a place, if I remember correctly  Lammtarra was unraced as a three year old when winning the Derby a few years back.

As for the price if it's on Betfair it's likely to be the win only price, you may find that the place only may be a lot less than the 8/1 you may expect for a place on a 33/1 shot.

bit of news in racing post,

HENRYTHENAVIGATOR and New Approach will be taken on by an American champion in the Irish 2,000 Guineas on Saturday, as Nownownow, last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner,is set to make his European debut.

The colt, formerly trained by Patrick Biancone, who is serving a year's suspension in the US, has since joined David Wachman, who plans to saddle both Nownownow and Great War Eagle in the Boylesports-sponsored
Classic at the Curragh.

Nownownow beat three European challengers, including the Aidan O'Brien-trained Achill Island, who finished a half-length second, in the Juvenile Turf at Monmouth Park last October.

Wachman said on Tuesday: “We had hoped to run him in the English Guineas, but he just didn't make it. He is in good shape and Olivier Peslier will ride him.

“Great War Eagle is also an intended runner. I hope the ground remains fast for him, and Wayne Lordan will probably ride him

Yeah I read that. He had planned to send him to the guinneas without a prep run as well so that's fine for me. It's convinced me that 33-1 is too big ..28 still available on betfair generally 20's. With Ibn out it's a dead 8 and the price looks massive.

i am not trying to put you off m8, there may be a bookie who will treat bet as an anti post bet if you bet today and still pay first 3, worth checking before you put bet on,i think betfair will still pay 3 places if you bet today but odds are vey bad
