Just checking

Obviously exit hands always bug you and this is no exception, but for future reference I have to ask to make sure
Playing a major live tournament, last 10, bubble time and it's two tables of 5.
Recently I lost most of my stack and was down to just 2000 before being in the big blind for 1600. I doubled up, next hand doubled up again and took the blinds and am back up to a whopping 8800 but back in the big blind for another 1600.
This time we're only holding
.
UTG+1 calls - he's probably the chip leader or not far off it and has limped several times recently to see flops
SB completes - tight solid player, hasn't shown down muck and has also checked/folded a few times
BB (me) - check
on th flop
SB checks and I've shoved.
I know my kicker really sucks, but my thinking was that the pot of 4800 is over half my stack so taking it down would be lovely for me here. Clearly I didn't win, the CL had Kings, but I'm still wondering if shoving here was standard given my low chips count or if I should have just waited for either my hand to improve or a better hand due to my weak ass kicker?

more than happy with the shove here...but you could also have check called..give someone a chance to stab at it with air.

that did cross my mind, but I didn't really want to give anyone a chance to hit another card, certainly not an over card. I didn't think I had enough chips to do anything other than shove or check/fold here either.

I wouldn't be too scared of an overcard here to be honest...or even giving someone a chance to hit another card..if you have the UTG limper in here he might have a pop at it and i could do with them chippies.

Watching a recent card runners video, they were talking about situations like this, and check call is always optimum in long run - as Boldie says you allow hands with air to take a stab, where as pushing you give weaker hands chnace to fold.. hands that beat you aren't going to fold if you shove so the result is the same in that case, just UL.

agreed..but I am not even considering folding here..so would check-call any bet not increase your chance of more chips ever soo slightly and therefore be more EV?

Push is good with the blinds so big, CL will call with a lot of lower pairs. No shame in paying disguised kings here.
