Today's question A defender is off the pitch receiving treatment and you have clearly told him to remain on the sideline until you signal for him to return. Spain are on the attack and Fernando Torres receives the ball outside the penalty area, runs through the defence, rounds the goalkeeper and taps the ball towards the empty net. As he turns to celebrate his goal the defender who was off the field receiving treatment sprints back on to the pitch without waiting for your signal to invite him on and performs a last-ditch goalline clearance. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/euro2008/2008/06/you_are_the_ref_2.html?ssorl=1212589958&ssoc=signover to you, what do we do?

Can't give a goal, obv.
Caution the player for entering the field of play without permission.
Look to find something else that you could caution him for - if he slid into the net clearing it I'd have him for leaving the field of play without permission.
Indirect free at the position he touched it, I guess the goal line.
I'd prefer a member of the crowd to run on and clear it. Classic. Nothing you can do but give an indirect free kick, which is pretty pointless on the goal line anyway - unless you have a team of Drogba's.

this one's easy and much more clear cut than yesterday.
immediately stop the game, yellow card for the player, indirect freekick from wherever the ball was when the ref blew. if the ball was cleared out of play before the ref blew then throw in/corner as usual.

Do nothing.
Torres will score 3 more and Liverpool will win anyway.

I believe this is the correct ruling if it had been a sub, team official or spectator (although the spectator wouldn't get the yellow).

These questions really are ridiculous asked to make us think that the referee's job is ridiculously hard and it's very difficult decisions they ussually get wrong, rather than straightforward ones, and we therefore will think they're not shit.
FYP.

What he said unless it was a Spanish defender.

Was it an Italian defender? If so, I'd award them the win and give the player's club side a place in the Champions League, whilst pocketing an envelope full of Euros.
