as many of you may or may not know my brother died at the age of 51 on may 22nd after a 4 year fight with cancer.
on monday just passed i attended his funeral which was a simple cremation at a crematoruim in upminster essex.

i accompanied my mum who is 74 who was struggling with everything that goes with losing a child that only those who have done so could imagine. i was trying to be as strong as possible for her, and although we never lived in each others pockets my bruv and i were fairly close.

as we walked into the chapel my mum hanging off my arm i looked straight at a photo of him that was placed at the front next to his coffin, that was it my eyes welled up and from that moment on i wept uncontrollably.

we took our place in the front row of the chapel less then 3 feet away from his photo and for the whole of the service apart from checking on my mum my eyes never left that photo!

"against all odds" was played at the start and some really beautiful song which i dont know the name off about doves flying away was played half way through, some people read some nice things about him which i was totally oblivious to.

as the service drew to a close we said a prayer and the curtains were drawn around his coffin.

by this time i was a mess, tears streaming down my face, not able to take my eyes off his photo knowing i was never gonna see him again and as his final funeral song and his dieing wish was played....

thats when the moment happened, the tune began

"BLUE IS THE COLOUR" blasted out!

i just stood laughing tears rolling down my face overcome with grief but laughing with my brother one final time!

So very sorry to hear of your loss. Try and take some solace that he is no longer suffering and cherish the memories you have of him. Thoughts also go to your mum.
