                            Reina

Carragher       Skrtel        Agger           Dossena

                          Mascherano

                            Gerrard

    Kuyt                                          Babel

                Keane
                                     Torres

Cavalieri
Deggen
Alonso (Barry)
Beneyoun
Arebeloa
Aurelio
Lucas

Sold  Pennant, Finnan, Voronin.
dossena could make all the difference this season, and if babel plays to his full potential, it looks a very strong team to give us a chance, no predictions yet though.

Away I think he'll play like this quite often:

                             Reina

Carragher       Skrtel        Agger           Aurelio

              Mascherano      Alonso

  Gerrard                                         Babel

                         Keane
                                     Torres

I do hope Liverpool can mount a title challenge again but realisticallly (and i'd like to hear from Man U and Chelsea fans here) how many of Liverpool's first choice 11 would merit a place in the starting line up of the Man Utd or Chelsea. Torres and Gerrard yes, Carragher at right back perhaps although Wes Brown was in good form last year and Bonsigwa(sp?) looked a good player in the Euros. Good a player as say Mascherano is would he dislodge Essien or Hargreeves from their starting 11s?

I think people are trying to get Carragher in the team on the basis he's Jamie Carragher. If he plays RB for Liverpool next year he'll be a massive weak link there.

Agree - we didn't buy a new RB to play Carragher there. We have 3 at the moment. He doesn't need to play there. Carra will still be 1st choice CB for one reason and one reason only. He's the best marshall of a defence I've seen in this country since Desailly. They move like clockwork due to him. Anyone who saw Arsenal Vs Liverpool at the Emirates last season (Champs League) will know how good Carragher is.

I don't think we will win the league with this team, but this argument:

"I do hope Liverpool can mount a title challenge again but realisticallly (and i'd like to hear from Man U and Chelsea fans here) how many of Liverpool's first choice 11 would merit a place in the starting line up of the Man Utd or Chelsea."

is a moot one for me.

Would Ballack or Drogba get in the Liverpool team over Torres and Gerrard? For me, no. Does it mean we wouldn't have them in a heartbeat if we could? Of course we would!

Also, Drogba and Anelka are amazing players - no doubt. Would I rather have their partnership or Torres and Keane? No contest. Carragher and Hyypia aren't better than Terry and Carvalho but I bet you'd be surprised how many seasons they've conceeded less goals.

I don't like to do our players vs their players because it's just not in our managers mentality (or budget) to go out there and buy star after star and have Man Uesque Galacticos in every position. If our team turns up in "big 4" matches and doesn't srop daft points to Reading and Wigan we'll have a chance no matter how early we're written off.

Villa call off Barry move to Reds

Aston Villa say that Gareth Barry will be staying at the club and not moving to Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Oh dear. Bad bad move by O'Neill.

We'll probably sign him at Xmas or next summer for far less. Maybe 12 mil at Xmas and 8 or 9 next summer.

I hope we move on and sign someone like David Silva instead.

Tottenham duo Jermaine Jenas and Michael Dawson have been handed one-year contract extensions to keep them at White Hart Lane until 2013.

Centre-back Dawson, 24, who arrived from Nottingham Forest in 2005, had been linked with a move to Newcastle towards the end of last season.

Midfielder Jenas, 25, joined in August 2005 from Newcastle and has made 111 appearances, scoring 21 goals.

He also earned a recall to the England team last season.

Duff to Blackburn as part of a Warnock deal possibility. (or hopefully more the other way round with Warnock plus cash!)

In terms of people in the squad it does nothing. Probably save 30k a week in wages, which I guess is part of the motivation, along with left wing cover being better than left back.
