Many of you won't have heard of this lad but I expect you will do over the coming years, may only play 10-15 games this season but one for the future...

Liverpool been linked with this Albert Riera from Espanyol, i cant say i know much about him

Can anyone shed any light ? All i'll say is if the lad can stick to the touchline and not congest everything by coming inside like our current "wide" men , it will be half the battle won

I ain't seen him play but by all accounts he played for Man Shitty and was pretty shit, Another thing is the fee quoted by some as being £12m, now why should that dosh go out of the EPL when a proven wide man in Stuart Downing could be got for a similar price?

Less than £8M apparently, whereas an average-ish player such as Downing is valued at over £15M.

He certainly plays as a wide player, which we certainly don't have on the left.  A lot of Liverpool fans are up in arms at this signing, but I'll wait and see.

Anyone know anything of this Grella chap who is linked with Blackburn?

Also, Pavlyuchenko claims he is set to join Spurs.

Newcastle linked with Malouda - WTF. Either this is the stupidest piece of rumour for us this season or something is seriously wrong in our transfer section.

Two of the only positions we are covered in are the wings.

Riera had a very good season last year. He has a decent turn of pace, he's strong on the ball, he has a lot of tricks in his bag and he's excellent at firing crosses low and hard accross the six yard box.

On the negative side he doesn't score enough and sometimes tries a trick or two too many in areas that are risky. But I dont think he'd take long to settle after showing some good signs at City.

If the fee is under 10 million as the Echo reported today I don't think it can go far wrong as his assists will definately help the side.

He ruined some excellent right backs last season such as Zambrotta, Miguel and Ramos (who he totally abused to the point it was embarrasing) and I think it's way to early to say this signing is a bad one.

Its not a bad signing, its not a title winning signing, its a signing to consolidate 3rd or 4th...
