Most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they occur. Typically, another outbreak can appear weeks or months after the first, but it almost always is less severe and shorter than the first outbreak. Although the infection can stay in the body indefinitely, the number of outbreaks tends to decrease over a period of years.

Dont bother with your local GP, they're generally shit.

bop up to the hospital at 6-7am when it'll be almost empty and you'll get a proper Doctor to see you and give you the appropriate amount of care and attention whereas local GP's just dont seem to bother anymore, i think theyre so disillusioned with the system and after having spent 20 years writing prescriptions for anti- depressants, writing sick notes and diagnosing flu they just dont seem to care anymore

That's not bad advice, and something I learned when I had my cyst problem. I went to the doctor a day before I went to Monte Carlo saying that it was a little sore and that I was worried it would get worse whilst I was abroad. She had one quick glance, said it was fine and sent me on my merry way. Whilst I was in Monte Carlo it went bright red and was fucking agony every time I moved. I even asked her if I should take anti-biotics and she told me not to bother!

I think it's down to pot luck whether you have a decent GP or not.  A couple of years ago I went to see my GP as was having bad pain in my lower abdomen.  She pushed it, confirmed it hurt like fuck, then said it could be this, it could be that, it'll probably get better on it's own.  go to A&E if you want and they'll give you a scan.  Er, ok......  As I was in pain, I went along to A&E.  waited a couple of hours then saw a doctor there who asked me a few questions, diagnosed the problem (without a scan) and gave me some medication (i.e. nothing the GP couldn't have done).  Waste of everyone's time.

To be fair, you do now have this fascinating story to tell

So I take it you'll remember to take it out when you're done, next time?
