Been thinking of getting a tattoo for a while and came up with my own design, 4 stars on my inner left arm and inside each star a heart, club, diamond and spade.

Just wanting opinions of people who have had them done and generally what people think of poker related tattoos.

Draw your design on your arm with felt tip. If it turns out you don't like it, it'll wash off after a couple of days. It won't hurt either.

As you can see from my pic <-- i have one. It's one of the best things i've ever done and not once have i regretted it!

I was given my design after a chat with an 'arty' bball chick i used to coach.

I liked the idea of the basketball ribs and i initially wanted the chinese for 'love' inside it. (it is now Japenese after some chat with my tatooist)

I had the design for a year or two before i finally had the guts to get it done (it wasn't that bad!)

I got it done about three years ago (i think) and i have always wanted another one but haven't as yet as i really want to be sure about what i want and where i want it done.

These are things i think you need to consider.
1) the design - are you going to be happy seeing it for the rest of your life
(probably as poker is not something i think we'll grow out of!)

2) where on your body you get it done.
(if it's going to be visable to future employers - you need to be comfortable it will not create a bad impression) - (if you care - lol)

3) what tatooist to use
(i was recommended mine by a heavily tattoo'd friend - he even came down with me and introduced me to my guy - this is mega important as if you go to an unknown place you really don't know how good they are or aren't and the absolute worst thing would be to be inked for life with a dodgy tatoo when you have the perfect idea in your head.)

It's both Japanese and Chinese.  The Japanese use Chinese characters as well as their syllabary symbols (similar to an alphabet, but different).   The Chinese use these characters exclusively for their written language - and use approximately 5,000 for day-to-day use - although there are over 40,000 in total.  The Japanese use a little under 2,000 of these characters, but unlike in Chinese, when you read the characters in Japanese they are pronounced differently according to the context they are in.  Most have at least two different 'readings', but some have well over a dozen - which makes things interesting.

The Japanese love of 'English' is also a common source of amusement.  I'll have to dig out some examples, but some are pretty good.

i HATE  chinease tattoo's, people who get them invariably seem to think they're amazingly unique and they're obv the first person to have thought of it Roll Eyes

at least Beckhams finally clued up and started getting tacky pics of birds on himself to compensate for all the chinease shit he's had written on him.

firstly no one else is gonna think it's cool because so many people have got one and you know it says some shit like: "peace and love" or "truth" YAWN!

then you're gonna wake up in a couple of years and think to yourself: "why the fuck did i get this shit? i dont really believe in peace and love i just wanted something that i thought would look cool but it turns out everyone else has got one and i'm not even sure it says that anyway"

GG WP thumbs up

Personally I liked the idea mooted in the u-tube clip of getting a tat of Helmuth on the botty.

Apart from that I'm not too bothered about them either way although Booder is a walking tat catalogue if anyone needs any ideas.

Good try, but I believe you meant:  おれは魚だ。 Which I can't really argue with.
