4 players left in a live (Rileys) £10 HH. Top 3 get paid.
110,000 chips in play SB has 19,000; BB (me) has 26,000 the rest are about even between the other two.

Blinds are 1500/3000
UTG folds, Dealer folds,
SB has been playing to a tight image all night, but I'm wondering... we only got down to 4 on the hand before last and he's made a lot of comments about this being the bubble...
SB pushes all in and gives me a hard stare....

I had K 10 off

I thought hard about it and eventually called putting him on a range of 66+ to A8s+ A10o+ (he actually had AJo and went away muttering dark things about 'people who call when they are so obviously behind, mutter, mutter)

was I right? (I won, so yes, but was the call good in general?)

I went on to win overall and this was the only hand when I went in behind

Can we have constructive criticism only in the Learning Centre please?

I don't like the call with KT.  You're not beating much, and even the hands you are beating you're only a slight favourite.

Push with it if you want, so you have fold equity, but not a fan of the call.

Much better to fold here and wait 'til next time the action folds to you and instashove with ATC.

Like Dan says at least then you've got fold equity.

However, saying that there's a good chance that the SB's doing exactly the same so you're within your rights to think that you could be ahead.

If I was the SB with 17.5k and 1.5k invested I would shove with ATC if the action folded to me. I certainly wouldn't wait for AJ. The guy was just annoyed because he actually had a hand. Unfortunately at this stage AJ is always likely to get looked up and isn't often going to be better than 60 40.

It's a crap shoot at this stage. If we think SB knows what he's doing he's pushing any two and you're likely to be ahead.(but it's more likely that he's a nit and he doesn't)

I don't like the call because you say "I am probably well behind but will call anyways" ( 66+ to A8s+ A10o+ is the range you put him on and the call doesn't make a lot of sense after you say that.

It could have been so much worse than it was - if the poster wants to repeat it then I have no problems with it being shared with the board....

Thanks for the constructive comments too

It would've probably been ok in PHA but the learning centre is different.

And long may it stay that way I say!!!!

So what was it?

I think its a spot where you can fold David, at this stage it cannot be emphasised enough how important or beneficial it is to get your chips into the middle 1st, eg, call with little, push with lots... It really is better to be pushing with Q3, J6, K2 in these spots than calling with K 10...

If you put him on ANY Ace your behind, never mind if you give him credit for A 10+ or a pocket pair

Did you say this is a headhunter comp?  In some cases you could argue for calling with K 10 if the opponent has a massive head value, but in generally this a folding spot...

that makes no sense at all tbh. you put him on a range that makes you a 2to1 dog so you make the call. if your range is correct then the call is so, so wrong

I've just run some numbers to illustrate to you how bad the call is against the range you're assigning.

I assume that if you held 67 s you wouldn't even consider making the call. however your odds of winning this are identical (well, to within 0.5%) to when you hold KTo

I was pretty sure when I posted this that I would be told how wrong I'd been.

I've been busted out so often by other people making the sort of call I made that I fell into the trap of thinking WTF, here goes!

I got away with it, and looking back over the rest of the evening I am confident that I played well.

(If calling a shove from SB when we were three handed with 88 counts?)
That was against AQo which looked rough with a Q on the flop, but so much better with an 8 on the turn :-)

Anyway - thanks for the opinions and advice

thanks also to the artist who made the first (deleted) response - I took your point
