Mobile phone stolen - options?
«

The missus had her handbag stolen last night (camera, some money and a mobile phone in it - no credit/bank cards fortunately).
She's still under contract for the phone, and we didn't take the insurance out on it. The phone has been reported stolen, so the sim and phone have been blocked.
But what options are available? Going back to the carphonewarehouse and they'll charge whatever they charge for a replacement sim, and also a few hundred for the phone (I'm guessing). What's the best way to do this? Can we get a sim card and get hold of a phone from somewhere else? Where's the best place to get a phone that can take an O2 SIM card other than from the shop we got it from originally?
If anyone has any advice, it'd be much appreciated.

You will get the sim free, as for a new phone, Ebay is your friend, dont buy form CPW, you will just pay too much. Also, how long do you have left of the contract? It might be worth while your wife putting up with a basic phone if its only a few months. Free phone with the new contract.

This happened to me last year. They sent me a new sim card for my contract free and i just had to put it in an old phone until contract was over.

when i get a new phone which is roughly every 3 or 4 years, I just type sim free model whatever into google, find the cheapest one for sale, google the company to make sure they're OK and er order it

Cheers all.
Wasn't sure if the ones on ebay would be OK or not. I guess if they say they're O2 or 'unlocked' they'll be fine and it's just a case of her sticking the new SIM in one of these?
I think she's got about 6 months left on the contract, so yes - she'll have to make do with whatever we can get cheap until then. Funnily enough, she starts a new job in a month (same company) and there might be a phone that comes with her job...

Even if you get one that is locked, you can unlock it for about £10 - £15, most small independent phone shops ogffer the service

Was thinking along similar lines. Except for the 'getting rubbish one' bit.

You could also go to a rival company who will pay so much of the remainder of your contract if you switch to them.Just another option for you,but buying cheap ph1 would be cheaper just some people need to have a fancy ph1(i'm not one of them lol)
