No, its nationality by rider
the horses are generally bred in a few centres, notably France and Ireland for European teams.
New Zealand also has huge tradition of show jumping stock.

the badminton earlier was sensational, a real highlight of the games so far. they were dead and buried at 12-17 in the last set.

Is that a case of the wealthiest buying the best horses?

well its generally quite well spread amongst the major nations. Obviously the whole sport is "old" money and attracts a lot of sponsors. The sponsors can also buy the horses eg "Everest double glazing xxx" and then do deals with the riders to ride the horses for them

Did we seriously have a rider in our team called Daisy Dick? What a great name!

The question is 'how many'? We have something like 9 world champs (or something like that), so we should be looking at at least 5? Or is that too optimistic?

Not sure what the target was for the cycling, but the cycle team seems to be in prime form, expect hatfulls of medals.
Rowers seem to have come in to form at the right time, they need to convert into Golds in the Finals

Don't let Kev hear you being so defeatist.
Surely you mean we have 9 world champs, so we're expecting at least 12 golds.

I wonder what Kev has to say about people phoning their mum while in the middle of an olympic diving competition and then moaning about their partner thinking that that's unacceptable.

Great text been sent in to the BBC website:
"Well done, Michael Phelps. I wonder how many Carl Lewis would have won if there were medals for running in slightly different, inefficient ways."
