Just watched Good Will Hunting, and am amazed that I never saw it back when it was released.

Great movie, with Williams and Damon both putting in superb performances.

Pretty amazing that Damon and Affleck wrote the script for it and I'm pretty sure it was the 1st script either of them had done.

One of my fav films.

Watched 'One Hour Photo' last night, and that was a pretty harrowing movie.

Wonder if Eli Elezra has had any of those working for him over the years...

Lasse Hallstrom is just the nuts.

I even liked Salmon Fishing In The Yemen ffs.

The Hundred-Foot Journey worth watching just for Helen Mirren and Om Puri.

Gone Girl.

Recommend it. I think Rosamund Pike could be up for an Oscar with it. Great performance.

I didn't much enjoy Argo or Captain Phillips as I didn't feel gripped in either film but I did in this throughout.

Think generally Ben Affleck can come across a bit wooden, but for this role it sort of suits considering the plot for him. Where gormless would often be the reaction of most men.

Watched Jersey Boys yesterday, and thought it was very good.

Luciano from Boardwalk plays one of the main characters, and Walken has a few fleeting appearances in his standard mobster role.

Definitely want to see the show next time I'm in Vegas now.

FURY

The latest Brad Pitt vehicle is a tale of a veteran American tank crew in the closing stages of WWII as they battle, town by town, towards Berlin and the end of the war.

Pitt is the tank commander hellbent on guiding his grizzled crew ( an eclectic bunch that include a Mexican and a Redneck ) safely through the last stages of the war and annihilating as many Germans as possible along the way.

When they lose their assistant driver/front gunner the crew have a raw recruit thrust upon them whose only action so far in the war was to type up field reports back at base. The story unfolds showing us how the newcomer is introduced to the harsh realities of war and learns, under duress at times, the close comrade that is born of sharing a claustrophobic tin can on wheels.

Pitt puts in a polished performance as the commander who at heart is a decent, upstanding guy but seems to be driven by an almost psychotic hatred of his enemy that in turn causes him to act in a way far removed from his peacetime persona. Shia LaBeouf supports well as a god fearing gunner and Logan Lerman ( he of Percy Jackson fame ) puts in a decent turn as the quaking new boy.

The film rocks on a decent pace interspersed with short, loud and visceral set piece battles leading to the final bloody act and just over two hours flew by with just a slight drag in the middle where Pitt seems to need to punctuate the fact his a decent guy and manages to take his shirt off at the same time... much to the delight of my lady companion who seemed more than happy to watch a war film once it was know the aforementioned Mr Jolie was starring.

Director David Ayer brings off a pretty decent action pic with a nice level of gritty realism although he does try to force it home just a tad but not enough to detract from the enjoyment of the piece.. fairly reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan.. nice intense battles though should keep enough of you suitably entertained.

One thing that made me chuckle was the fairly cliche view of our heroes enemy..I'm pretty sure all Americans think that all Germans of the period were Nazi's rather than them being a distinct separate group to the common German as each enemy leader seemed of the Aryan goose stepping variety.

Enjoyed it thoroughly and a solid 7/10 for me

I did the double header of Nightcrawler and The imitation game and both were terrific films. Both would be a good 8 1/2 to 9 for me with Gyllanhaal superb in Nightcrawler and just a really amazing story being told in The Imitation game. I'm ashamed to say I knew very little of Alan Turing and the work he did or the way he was treated in later life.  Would happily watch both of those films again tomorrow.

Imitation Game was very good. From the limited Sherlock I have seen, I think fans of that will love it.
