Watched Avatar on blu ray on friday and was worried about the hype surrounding it would lead to the usual disappointment.

I got nervous at the start as i got an odd feeling i was watching an entirely cgi generated film but it quickly drew me in and it melded beautifully into a spectacular, visual treat. Thought it was a good story well executed and once again Cameron has delivered the goods. Hollywood execs must wet themselves when he comes up with ideas.

Although a long film, like all good long films it flew by...

8.8/10

I thought it was even better on DVD than in cinema which is rather strange.  Perhaps I just forgot how good it was.

Saw Hot Tub Time Machine at the weekend. Nearly works but doesn't quite somehow and probably the first of a few The Hangover wannabe movies to come out this year.
Just all a bit rushed somehow and the free-for-all comedy scenes don't work. Also, miscast imo. John Cusack is usually good but he is not a comedy actor. Seth Rogen in this role ftw.
Just about worth a look though.

They advertised for archers to be extras in that

My brother went along on that basis, but didn't bother staying. Apparently they were just accepting people first come first served - not difficult to work out that they can just CGI the backgrounds whenever there's anything you don't like in the crowd scenes

i thought this was good. watched it in a cinema in the US where there was 3 people, including me.

Cusack made his name doing comedy movies, in the mid 1980's, when he was popular, and he probably thought life was great.

do you get it yet ?

Managed half an hour of Four Lions this morning.

[ ] Chris Morris is a genius

Then managed half an hour of Robin Hood. Never realised Robin's childhood years were split between Glasgow, Bradford and Dublin. Weirdest accent ever from the gruff Kiwi.

It's a legend but I think Errol Flynn's take was the nearest to historically accurate
