I joined a private game a month or so ago and there was a player who occassionally, under no pressure would make a massive all-in re-raise, picking up 300 or so chips for a 3000+ bet. never having had the cards or chips to look him up I was left baffled. We played a game tonight and he did it twice. 1st time, as usual he picked up the blinds. second time I was holding AA. I obviously called. he looked quite happy with it and prodly turned over JJ. proud and happy til he saw my Aces. Then he told us how unlucky he was being. 1st time he had JJ he only got the blinds, 2nd time he runs into AA. I assumed he perhaps did it on JJ because he can't figure out a good way of playing them (who can, though I'm sure this isn't it). But there's more to the story.

I later got sat on a table with his son, who was new to our game and he did the same thing. Massive all-ins in odd situations. difference was he got looked up a few times. Q,Q 4,4 and 7,7 were shown. I said "you've been watching your dad play" and he replied "no he's been watching me" so I pressed him a little and he basically said that they both play the strategy that if there's nobody already all-in then thats their move. and I mean seriously blinds 200/400 raise 5000 all-in with ANY pair, be that Aces or twos.

That sort of play, as described by Adam, just beggars belief.
