Surely not if he'd only had one and a half times the drink drive limit, that's only about 2 pints, most students should manage that much before breakfast with no ill effects.

Apparently the girlfriend of the time didn't find it quite the aphrodisiac I was hoping for at that moment.

I don't believe it's physically possible to beat that without breaking the eggs to start with.
