I was discussing the very same thing with the Mother in Law earlier!  Surely I could get good enough at something to be in the next Olympics.

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 2012 Olympics, I'm Sue Barker.

Next up is Graham from team GB.  375 strokes per minute, but has he got the finish.

I think im giving up already.

sigh.  what happened?

I dont think i have the attention span. I am going to discuss this with the official British Archery Association and see how i can progress. I used to shoot arrows AT the cubs and scouts in various jamborees so i have a small level of experience.

We shall see

How difficult can it really be to break through in a 'sport' as dull as Archery or shooting?

Deceptively difficult. They may look easy on television but require brute strength of an ox and hand co-ordination of......er Phil Taylor or summat.

Real good fun to play though Archery imo.

you tried your best and that's all that matters

lololol

If you are giving this a shot, all the best to you mate. If you get there, we can all be your merry men.

If it doesn't go so well, have you considered training really hard to be like a volleyball umpire or something?

Either that or move to somewhere like Equitorial Guinea and apply for citizenship.

Then you wouldn't have to worry about making the team, you just need to meet the minimum qualifying standard. If you've already bought the bow, you may as well move no? Pot odds.

 Cheesy

My brother is trying to get up to the qualifying standard to represent GB at the 2012 Olympics in archery.

At the moment he's good enough to play for Wales, he's got a bit of a way to go yet to be good enough for GB though (I'm not making any nationalistic suggestions there, it's factually accurate).

I'm sure he'd be pleased to know it's such an easy sport.

Tell him not to bother as Sunday will take his spot...assuming he can be bothered practising 4 hours a week..or so.

I'm thinking 10,000 m swim.

I figure, how many people can be stupid enough to want to swim 10,000 metres?

Therefore there can't be that much competition.

That's me, Rookie and Sundaypm sorted for blonde Gold Medals, Kev will have to make do with the GB coaching post I think, so else is joining the blonde/GB Olympic 2012 team?

Swimming seems a bit too energetic - instead I'm going to volunteer my services as a judge at the beach volleyball.
