Players from Grosvenor Luton challenge you to a match

Where: Grosvenor Luton
When: Wednesday 9th August (during the Luton August festival)
Time: Exact time to be confirmed, but approx 5pm, before that evening's Omaha competition
Rules: As per Notts/Blackpool competition

The above has been agreed with Carmel at Luton should you choose to play us. Carmel is intending to run a heads up competition at Luton in July where two seats to our team for this match can be won. The other six players will be finalised shortly, four have already agreed in principle

Tikay/Junior etc...do you accept?

Of course we do. You are all excellent and we are all muppets. You should win handsomely.

Therefore I look forward to receiving at least 5/2 from you in a side bet.

already looking forward to the game.  I guess its down to us (as champions) to provide the customary crystal prize trophy.  Do you have 9 players that know how to play NLH and can rustle together 250 each? - we could always play 3-a-side if your struggling for a team. -

a) Carmel has said she will provide a trophy (though whether the local shoe repairers/key cutters in Luton will do a trophy that will do an event justice, I doubt...)

b) We would offer to provide you with a flat pack trophy cabinet as well, except we doubt you'd want an empty wooden thing in the corner of your cardroom for too long, and wouldn't want you to stretch those brain cells too much assembling it for no subsequent purpose.

c) if NLH proves a problem for us, do you know whist?

Ooh-er, make a lot of noise these Luton boys, eh? Reminds me of that other lot. Now what were they called? Sigh, I just cant remember......Always hard to remember losers.

But to be serious for a mo, the Notts Boys want to make this a Charity Event, with Poker4Charity &/or Game 4Life benefiting. I mean, as far as the teams are concerned, this is all about bragging rights, not money. But it'd be nice to get some lolly across to Davey Newth & his team at Poker4Charity, eh?

So, are Luton up for making this a Charity Event? I have to mention here a vested interest. Malcolm Muskett, one of the Notts All-Stars, has a role in Poker4Charity - a trustee or summat - but it's a tremendous cause, so let's get it on, eh?

And please pass on our thanks to Carmel for helping out. What a lovely spirit we are getting between the players & the cardrooms now.

We have given you our congratulations but dont gloat too much or we may have to demand a rematch. Hows about a league with the format me and junior sorted out being the standard format. Think it worked well and every festival could then have an intercasino challenge. The "practise" match while we sorted out the teething problems obviously wouldnt count towards a league that didnt even exist Grin

No worries Ariston. We, as reigning champions, will accept a challenge from Blackpopol at the next Blackpool Festrival. The idea is that it goes from Festival to Festival, the hosts (let's say Blackpool, Luton, Walsalll) play the Champions - that's Notts. See?

And I am assuming you are up for making this a charity jobbie.

By the way, can you make the trophy smilar to the one you gave us the week before last - so we have a matching pair?

More than happy playing it for charidee yes. I will have to make sweeping changes to the team next time dropping myself and bringing in the A team (cue I aint getting on no plane fool jokes). Rather than having reigning champions why not set up a real league? Super league consisting of all the casinos that hold festivals on a regular basis- 3 points for a win etc?

I don't think the League would work - too long betwen Festivals. And Notts don't hold Festivals, we just win other peeps Fessie events. And who would the "opponents" be at, say, Walsall, if it' not the holders? Nah, too many probs. The Defending Champs take on the Host Venue, the money goes to Charity, & the Bragging Rights go to Notts. What would be fairer?

But if other folks wanna League, well pipe up boys, before it's too late.

JP - that JP Kelly? Sorry, but the match is held after your bedtime.

Note to the Notts Boys - JP is the only player Luton have got - nobble him & we are home & hosed.

Blackpool would like a league. More than one match could take place at a festival, you saw how london were keen to play up at blackpool. As nottingham dont have festivals you could play all your matches as away ties (nobody would want to visit Nottingham anyway  Wink )

If we get JP out of his after school fun club in time, can the nurse get you there from the nursing home in time?
