Question about the rules

was playing in a home game the other night and one of the guys got knocked out when it would have been his turn to post the big blind next hand.

So we came to the next hand and the guy who was sort of in charge said there was no big blind just a small blind to which I replied that, that was incorrect and that the big blind just moves onto the next player.

anyway this was my first time at this home game and I was out-voted 5-1 about this rule.

I didn't make a big deal about it as it's only a wee friendly game but I am 100% correct aren't I ?

You were right, they were wrong - there is always a big blind.

Nope, there must always be a big blind.  If the person who was due to be small blind gets knocked out then you can have no small blind and just a big blind, but not the other way around.

Usually its a dead small blind and big blind only then the DB will be dead next hand

You were right, they were wrong.

There HAS to be a BB in every hand. In your case, the BB just moves to the next player along, SB and button stay where they are.

Yes there is an exception, but I will let people tell me I am wrong before saying.

I agree with the wrestler bloke, it is possible to start a hand with no bb being posted. there will still be a bb though.

they can win what they posted x the number of players unless there's a player with even less

The OP did not state what variant of poker they were playing, if they had decided to play a few rounds of 5 Card Draw then there are no blinds, only antes.
