Thank you all for your views I found them most valuable, in particular I liked the posting of Totalise, which took it to another dimension though I'm still not convinced my opponent was playing at such a level.
Personally I felt the shove was a sign of weakness if it had been made by one of the many regular donks I would have inst-called. For the record I did call and my opponent showed  and the river was a blank. I still think it was the right decision with the info available at the time.

totalise makes some good points but his thoughts depend on the villian being a thinking player. based on the little information we have i would say hes not a thinking player and is purely playing there own cards.

I totally agree, sorry if I didn't make it clear in my last post.

I would insta-call this. With no stats, we can't make assumptions, and I think the average player's range is too wide to fold here. Yes he may have the flush, boat or whatever, but he could just as easily have an inferior king, an underpair spazzing out, or a stenecold bluff. Like Alex says, players can often go loco in these situations. If in doubt, you still have the redraw.

So the villain called the preflop raise with J7 suited?

Is that wise longterm?

Am I missing something here?

Apologies if your'e think I'm talking rubbish but her goes anyway. (Im only new on site have patience with me)

I think the most likely hand is a flush based on betting pattern. He raise UTG and calls with odds of 2-1 pre flop. He raises on flop but only 107 on 339 pot- hardly intended to get you you of pot. By turn he knows you've got something big and you've quite likely hit trips. He wants you to think he's stealing with A hearts and perhaps Q - so it's a pot bet.

The other likely candidates to me are A hearts and K,Q,J or T off. But wouldn't he have bet bigger on turn if he wanted you off it ?

Also KQ feasible but again probably bigger raise on flop.

You are getting 2-1 to call. I thinks its a close call and depends on his propensity to semi bluff. I think I would tend to fold here unless history of bluffs.

I was right for a change - must have been beginners luck. Though I did think more likely to be A rag heats.
