Best of luck to Nicky Power, Rob Taylor and any other Irish playing today.

Nicky to win and Waterford to win the All Ireland on Sunday for a great Deise weekend!

There's been very little action thus far, the most exciting moment coming when I banged into a table and knocked over Jerome Bradpiece's glass of water. Fortunately, Jerome wasn't there at the time to discipline me for my moment of Frank Spencerness, but I did garner the unwanted attention of the surrounding tables, all peering eyes silently yelling, "feckin' idiot!"

When you spill a drink, there's that awkward moment where you're not sure what to do. Do you pick it up, ask for a mop, pretend it never happened, or just run out of the cardroom? I chose neither of these options. I for some reason retrieved the individual ice cubes and put them back in the pint glass, and then started stomping my trainer on the wet patch as if the sole of my shoe wuld somehow adsorb the liquid. "Just leave it," advised Dena, so I did. "Jerome's bigger than you," warned Neil Channing menacingly, but I guess everyone is really.

Meanwhile, there has been some thrilling developments on the plasma screen, which now boasts a total of 90 players for today's play.

A player list will be published surely, but allow me to divert your eyes momentarily towards this shocking development. According to the provisional player list, the recipient of yesterday's Womblecam, Stephen Walmsley, has been scheduled to play today too! Has he demanded a spot on day 1b so he can showcase another nine levels of folding??

The left-hand side of this pairing, Stuart Rutter, has been mixing it up early doors, but to little avail. On the very first hand, he raised it up preflop with pocket jacks, but was shown no mercy on a K-Q-2 flop and had to release to a leading bet from Adam Wilkinson. Then, a few hands later, he picked up quads on an 8-4-4-4-A board, but could only prise out one bet when his opponent housed up on the river.

We may be lacking the return of Luton finalist Wayne Mardle and other such familiar names, but we have been graced by the presence of Tony Cascarino, and, making his Tour debut, Michael Le Vell, perhaps better known as Kevin Webster from Coronation Street. I'm not sure how experienced Michael is at live poker, but I was concerned when I spotted him pulling his cards to his chest to take a peek. In truth, I think the dealer should have advised him to keep his cards on the table in future.

Early double up and a casualty on the table of death. Nick Gibson calling off his stack on a board with against Roberto Romanello who flipped for the house leaving Nick drawing to a ten, which didn't materialise on the river.

This young chap is Glenn Ashworth, winner of the £200 event from earlier in the week. Glenn hasn't exploded out of the blocks today though, check-raising a 300 bet on an flop to 750, but being forced to lay it down to a reraise of 2,600.

Also stumbling early doors is TV pundit James Browning. He flopped two pair with J-T on a J-T-A flop but ran into a bigger two pair in A-J.
