Here's a pic of my old man, (who incidentally is 78 today)  with Bobby Charlton at an event my Dad was running.

You can see who I get my hair from...

You look so like him Kin.

Wish him a happy birthday from me.

Me too so to get back to the original topic....I am middle top. Photo is me and my sisters and brother at our first Christmas party

Pics like that are priceless Suzanne.

Is that an orange you're eating?

I was an ice cream shell, I was about 6 years old and remember it so well as I had never had one before.

My Dad was a member of the Buffs Club...no idea what that means but I think it was a mini Masons. I remember noticing that Santa had brown shoes and thought it a bit odd...I spotted a guy with the same shoes and sussed out  that day that Santa didn't exist :-(

The Buffs, I believe relate to The ancient Order of the Buffaloes, it was indeed a masonic type organisation Suz.

Certainly up till a couple of years ago there was still a Buffs club in Polwarth, just up from Fountainbridge, I was there for some family anniversary or other.

Using a proper billhook as well - there's not many places you can get them anymore - did your Dad work at hedging/woodlands work or anything along those lines Booder?

He worked for the railways most of his life (like Tikay we also lived in railway houses).Every saturday he would spend the day at his parents smallholding. It was always great to spend the day with him, chopping kindling, picking fruit, exploring the numerous railway carriages(used as sheds),riding on the tractor, drawing water from the well and my favourite job....being in charge of the bonfire.........and roast pork for lunch    thumbs up

I wonder where he got it then?

I'm into wild-craft - food, fire, shelter type stuff & there's some stong devotees of the old-fashined bill-hook, the differnet shapes all have names - I'll see if I can identify that one.

Right- don't fall out with me Booder - but that looks like a Suffolk blade your Dad was using....

My father, like his father was,is a hoarder.Everything will  "come in handy one day". The aforementioned railway carriages were like Alladins cave to me as a child and also as an adult.
