Me too so to get back to the original topic....I am middle top. Photo is me and my sisters and brother at our first Christmas party
Pics like that are priceless Suzanne.
Is that an orange you're eating?
I was an ice cream shell, I was about 6 years old and remember it so well as I had never had one before.
My Dad was a member of the Buffs Club...no idea what that means but I think it was a mini Masons. I remember noticing that Santa had brown shoes and thought it a bit odd...I spotted a guy with the same shoes and sussed out that day that Santa didn't exist :-(
The Buffs, I believe relate to The ancient Order of the Buffaloes, it was indeed a masonic type organisation Suz.
Certainly up till a couple of years ago there was still a Buffs club in Polwarth, just up from Fountainbridge, I was there for some family anniversary or other.
Geo.
I think there's still a Buffs club in West Register Street, just behind the Burger King at the east end of Princes Street. I enjoyed a lunch time pint or two in there when I worked nearby in the early 1990s, a cheap place for Friday lunch time drink and always pretty busy. I did once ask what the ROAB actually is and was told it's mainly a charitable organisation. If it's not still there the sign certainly is as I passed by that way a couple of weeks ago.

I cant remember the name of the street, you head towards Haymarket from the West End, just before Haymarket you go left and the road doubles back, there was a small flight of stairs up to the door. He probably still goes there, Ive not seen him in over 20 years.
I was most upset to find out my old school had been turned into a McDonalds :-(

My Aunt (who happens to be a nun) has been a wee bit poorly of late. They moved her back to the convent last week and my Mom was asked to go through her things. A huge box of old photos all to do with past generations of our family were among the belongings. None of us knew she had so many!!!
Meet my Great Great Grandpa - Nelson Bickford taken in 1870 when he was 35 years old.

His wife and my Great Great Grandma - Margaret Bickford. Also taken in 1870, she was only 30 in this photo. We only hope she'd seen better days at some point!
