The minimum raise is equal to amount of the last raise.

1 bb

Raise 2 to 3

Raise 5 to 8

Last raise was 5.

8 + 5 = 13.

Oh,recent argument in the self dealt game was that u can reraise minimally by the original raise and not the most recent.i always thought it must be the latter,i lost the argument.so i was right?basic stuff probably, but annoying.

So in whoever was arguing with bhoywonder's bizarro-world, someone could min-raise to 2bbs, a player make it 200bbs to go, only to get re-popped up to 201bbs.

I may be wrong but in a lot of the British televised 6-seater tournaments they seem to play a rule whereby the raise must be equal to the total size of the previous bet (not the incremental raise). Is this common practice?

To clarify, BB = 2K, UTG raises to 6K then a re-raise must be at least 12K (not 10K).

It seems odd to me - and Mad Marty seems to be tournament director for a lot of these games so perhaps that explains it?

Can't speak for anywhere else, but pre internet, every poker room in the midlands used to use the rule, whatever it was to call, was the minimum bet. Most if not all have moved on now, but some of the players that were around then still prefer it that way, and I know Marty was one of those players.

For what's it worth, where I deal the rule is (and I presume for all Grosvenor Casinos) that it has to be double the last raise. Which caused me no end of frustration at first because to me:

300SB / 600BB / Raise to 1200 /Re-raise to 1800  was acceptable. However. It has to go 600 - 1200 - 2400 - 4800 etc.

Yes but you said double the raise, i will quote you again....

So if the blinds are 300-600 and i raise to 1600 by your logic i have raised 1600, i am pretty sure 1600-600 is 1000, it might be 1600 though i haven't studied maths in a while.

Did you read my full post? I know you've raised 1000.

But according to my club. If I want to raise you, I have to make it 3200.

So when you said:

You were joking?
