I just had a mini-run, of the multiple-callers hitting minimal-outs variety, and my first reaction is Sad is this gonna put me on tilt, but as time goes on my ability to shrug it off is improving. No point tearing your hair out, and sometimes there is comedy value.

Was just reading a story about durrr (Tom Dwan) and downswings, half his roll recently (  Shocked )
. Nearly made him give up.

What's your longest run of getting beats/downswing, and how did you cope?

Once played 43 consecutive tournaments without cashing.

Won the next one for £4200, then won a WSOP seat two weeks later.

Lost about 15 buy in's at NL50 recently and decided that playing NL200 was the way to claw someback, lost more 2 buy ins.  Coped by quitting cash games and getting back in to tourneys.  Back on playing a bit of limit cash in the mean time too.

Never really tilted, just got annoyed and felt like shit for a day or so.  I don't like downswings.

Sticking to mtt's from now on, have regained some of the losses but I'm only a small stakes tourney player so it will take a while.

11 months and counting, bar six weeks in mid summer

what of course this means is I am crap, rather than it being a bad run

Sorry about the bad runs, hope it turns around for you all.

I found the durrr stuff in Poker Player too, interesting read. I can't find anything else online on his big downswing.
I watch him against Ivey a bit, very interesting.
